After reading my Friends List this morning I have come to a single conclusion.

Monday, this one in particular, needs to be fired.

Hate to do it, but there really is no choice. nothing good can come from letting this terrible day continue. So Monday, you're officially fired.

Since Monday has been fired, I will have to tell you all about the weekend- which shall be allowed to continue on and come back in a few days.

So Friday night was movie night with [livejournal.com profile] zen_kitty and Mr. Zen_Kitty. It was much fun. We watched The Seeker (based, sort of, on the Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper), and Stardust. The former wasn't as appreciated as the latter. There was also excellent conversation, laughing, kitties being silly/cute, and great pizza. All in all a very successful venture. (by the by, Happy belated Birthday [livejournal.com profile] zen_kitty!!)

Got home, took the poor neglected Kyle for a walk (poor guy spent most of the day in his crate). So even though it was late I stayed up later so that I could give him some much needed attention and 'out of crate' time. Leo, meanwhile, was determined that it was bedtime, and gave me a stern talking to for being out so late.

Saturday- the dearest husband turned 50!!. We were supposed to have a get together, but since he didn't get home until nearly 8 am, and then wanted to sleep, it's best that the event was canceled. Instead I let him sleep (while I ran a few errands and got the dining area all set up with his birthday stuffs) and got him up around 3-ish (per his insistence). Did very well on the gift getting this year (rather proud of myself), he got Amy Winehouse's cd, a new book of Greg Egan short stories- published by Subterranean Press in Michigan- and The Remains of Tom Lehrer- a three CD set with a bio/song book. He was most happy, and made me listen to the first of the Tom Lehrer CDs. There was much laughing. And considering how young he was when he first heard these, it explains so much about him. ;)

I was allowed to take him to dinner to celebrate, his choice was Outback. I think they know us there now... We ask to sit as far as we can from smoking, and they really do oblige. We were at a table for six because all the other 'for two' tables were adjacent to the smoking section. The food was excellent, as was the company. :) After dinner we headed home to watch a stupid movie (Tremors) and laughed ourselves silly. Hubby declared it the best birthday ever.

Sunday was really quite relaxed, breakfast at Blondie's, and then home to loll about for awhile. Hubby had to go to work, so he napped while I puttered around trying to be quiet. I have almost all of our cds loaded into Schroeder now. My big accomplishment. And got out financial books sorted for the week. Later on in the evening I had good talks with the mom and the older sister. That was really nice. I should talk to them more often. Then it was time to pick things up a little, get coffee ready for this morning (Oh how I LOVE having a coffee pot with a timer/clock!), take Kyle for one last walk of the day, and get me to bed. I was aiming for early, and made 11:30 pm... No, not my definition of early.

It does explain why I want a nap right now though. *hugs* to you all.

And remember- you deserve to be treated with kindness, among other good things. No matter what anyone else tells you (even if it YOU that says you don't!)- you do.

Monday, being VERY upset over being fired, is throwing a temper tantrum.

The tears of rage are really coming down, and I don't know WHAT is being thrown around up there in the heavens- but it's loud and is shaking the building a little bit. I'm not sure what's causing the flashes of light either.

I do hope Monday doesn't continue this childish behavior for long. I was planning to have lunch with the hubby and wanted to do so without there being a shower involved first...

So yeah, I'm making up for all those days when I didn't post anything...

I just posted my first 'in progress' project on Ravelry! *bounces* I even added all the specific details about the yarn I'm using! Wow. For those not on Ravelry, who may be curious, I'm using this yarn to make a shawl:
http://www.loopyarn.com/hand-spun-organic-cotton-yarn-666.html

It's my second shawl project (the first never got very far because I kept forgetting what line I was on) and going pretty well. (Thanks to some much needed advice... thanks [livejournal.com profile] stormkitty!!) The line counter I got with a learning to knit kit has been very useful in helping me keep track of what line I'm on in the crochet project. Heh. If this works (and so far the tendinitis in my right wrist isn't complaining too much) I may actually go through my stash and tackle other projects!

As I was telling my sister last night- one of the most useful things I've learned so far from the Stitch n Bitch book (that my lovely MIL got my for Christmas) is how to make a center pull ball of yarn. This has made things SO much easier. The biggest plus- the yarn is less interesting to the cats. There's the lack of moving ball, so their attention is not so easily gained! This is a win all around!

Oh, and I have learned a valuable lesson. I should not read right before trying to go to bed. I had the worst time sleeping on Saturday night- in part because my mind was fussing over the plot of the book I was reading right before attempting to sleep. Yeah, I stopped mid-scene and my brain HAD to come up with multiple endings... So I was able to fall asleep- I just couldn't stay there. Perhaps the oddest dream of all was the one that started at my parents' church, wandered off somewhere, and then I was Lindsay Lohan's new best friend... She just attached herself to me and decided we were friends. I was amused and willing to go along with it, just to see. It was weird.
