Since Monday has been fired, I will have to tell you all about the weekend- which shall be allowed to continue on and come back in a few days.
So Friday night was movie night with
zen_kitty and Mr. Zen_Kitty. It was much fun. We watched
The Seeker (based, sort of, on the Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper), and
Stardust. The former wasn't as appreciated as the latter. There was also excellent conversation, laughing, kitties being silly/cute, and great pizza. All in all a very successful venture. (by the by, Happy belated Birthday
zen_kitty!!)
Got home, took the poor neglected Kyle for a walk (poor guy spent most of the day in his crate). So even though it was late I stayed up later so that I could give him some much needed attention and 'out of crate' time. Leo, meanwhile, was determined that it was bedtime, and gave me a stern talking to for being out so late.
Saturday- the dearest husband turned
50!!. We were supposed to have a get together, but since he didn't get home until nearly 8 am, and then wanted to sleep, it's best that the event was canceled. Instead I let him sleep (while I ran a few errands and got the dining area all set up with his birthday stuffs) and got him up around 3-ish (per his insistence). Did very well on the gift getting this year (rather proud of myself), he got Amy Winehouse's cd, a new book of Greg Egan short stories- published by Subterranean Press in Michigan- and The Remains of Tom Lehrer- a three CD set with a bio/song book. He was most happy, and made me listen to the first of the Tom Lehrer CDs. There was much laughing. And considering how young he was when he first heard these, it explains so much about him. ;)
I was allowed to take him to dinner to celebrate, his choice was Outback. I think they know us there now... We ask to sit as far as we can from smoking, and they really do oblige. We were at a table for six because all the other 'for two' tables were adjacent to the smoking section. The food was excellent, as was the company. :) After dinner we headed home to watch a stupid movie (
Tremors) and laughed ourselves silly. Hubby declared it the best birthday ever.
Sunday was really quite relaxed, breakfast at Blondie's, and then home to loll about for awhile. Hubby had to go to work, so he napped while I puttered around trying to be quiet. I have almost all of our cds loaded into Schroeder now. My big accomplishment. And got out financial books sorted for the week. Later on in the evening I had good talks with the mom and the older sister. That was really nice. I should talk to them more often. Then it was time to pick things up a little, get coffee ready for this morning (Oh how I LOVE having a coffee pot with a timer/clock!), take Kyle for one last walk of the day, and get me to bed. I was aiming for early, and made 11:30 pm... No, not my definition of early.
It does explain why I want a nap right now though. *hugs* to you all.
And remember- you deserve to be treated with kindness, among other good things. No matter what anyone else tells you (even if it YOU that says you don't!)- you do.
