'Ello!

Yesterday I actually did it, I called in sick! This may not seem like a big deal to some people- but consider that I have only called in once before this, and I've been at this job since July 2005. I just don't like calling in sick, especially if I'm mobile. For some reason it makes me feel incredibly guilty, and as though I'm inconveniencing my bosses. That and I'm always afraid that when I get back I'll find all these messages about all the things I haven't done. (I think I have a form of job-related PTSD thanks to the Leprechaun.) This time I thought I had covered all my bases, but was still worried.

However, after spending much of Tuesday evening on the couch, feeling like crap, I decided to call in. Which for me means getting up and calling Mrs. Boss. I work for a small company and often am the first person there- it's part of my job to be there a few minutes early in order to let employees without keys get in. Like me, many of them have to punch in and out. Plus, the desktops techs (our people who work primarily on desktop computers not servers) have this reward policy for punching in and out on time, any late punches means they don't get their bonus money. I, personally, would hate for my being late to cost them the extra cash- even though I don't qualify for the same bonus.

All this to point out that if I'm not there- and were I to just call the main line- then there might not be anyone to let the techs in. So I have to call Mrs. Boss with enough time for her to get to the office. What surprised me, when I called at 6:50 am, was that she answered after two rings, and sounded rather awake. Well, and surprised that I was actually calling in!

Called in, then went back to bed. Hubby decided, at around 11 am, that it was time for me to wake up. This process took awhile as I still felt like crap. (Mostly in way of headache, congestion, and had a sore throat.) Camped out on the couch for the day, got a lot of crocheting done and watched the second disk of Smallville season 1 (and to agree with most of my friends- Lex Luthor is the best thing on the show). Also watched the last of the Dresden Files.

At this point I would just like to say that I shouldn't have watched the 'making of' or whatever it was called. Someone, a director or a writer, said that they didn't want to use too much magic in the show because they didn't want to lose viewers. Apparently we all know that a show that's about a wizard who uses magic will not attract sc-fi/fantasy fans. *faceplam* WTF? I just wanted to slap the idiot. DH mused that it was no wonder the show didn't get picked up for another season- they started out boring! Later on more magic came into play and it was a lot more fun! We both really liked the show, and are sad that there isn't another season. But come on! A show about a wizard who doesn't use magic?! I'm not sure they really got the gist of the books... I did think the change in Bob was an excellent choice though. Oh, and hearing the actor who played Dresden speak in his natural voice? Whoa... weirded me out- I didn't know he was British! 'Course I also didn't know the guy playing Bob was from Kentucky...

So yes, at work today. Feeling somewhat better. Took a Zomig for my migraine, and now I'm feeling somewhat loopy. Probably has something to do with also being still a little sick.

How are you?
