Weekend

Well, this was an eventful weekend. :)

Saturday was my bridal shower, hosted by my two lovely sisters-in-law, location provided by my mom. It was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed seeing everyone and for the Beau's family to meet more of my family, and my friends, before the wedding. In attendance were my mom (of course), 2 sis-in-laws, aunts Gladys, Liz and Karen, Great-Aunt Marge, The beau's Mom, Aunt Ione, sis, daughter, and my friends [livejournal.com profile] losgunna and [livejournal.com profile] royal_jester. (For those last two, thanks so much for being there- I'm sure you spent more time in the car than at the party- but I really appreciated seeing you. :) )

The company was fabulous (to steal my GA-Marge's word). My Great-Aunt Marge is one of the neatest ladies I've ever met. She just exudes a joy, graciousness and enthusiasm that you can't help but try to emulate. And yes, fabulous is one of her words and still it doesn't seem to be exaggerated. That and she wrote the card out to Miss Anna Banana- so how could I not smile? This is the same woman who got in trouble for protesting nuclear energy- but kept going because it was a cause she believed in, and also went to college as an older adult so her 5 children couldn't give her any excuses about why they weren't going to go.

The food was very good (and I got Mom's potato salad to take home!) and the prezzies! Oh my. I got me a red toaster (which is good since the old one we had just kinda quit working) that's all new and shiny, and did I mention red? :) My Aunt Lora, who couldn't be there, made up for it with her 'pamper the bride' kit- it included cherry smelly bath stuffs, and a sooooft robe that I had to keep a close eye on (a few of the guests wanted to wander home with it!), the robe had matching slippers and the Beau wanted to steal those! MINE! :)

Oh and [livejournal.com profile] jiffjenn the gift you sent... very appreciated. :) And I'm sure the color red my face turned was quite becoming... And The Beau's mom took a picture of two I believe. Thanks. :)

As additional pluses- Sis-in-Law M is going to bring more petit fors (spelling?) for the reception, and make the same punch using her lovely punch bowl. Sis-in-law M is letting us borrow the centerpiece that she used for the bridal shower (and was used when she married my brother- so I figure it's got good karma, seeing as how happy they are to be together). I'll just add a few more fake flowers to it (similar to the real ones that will be in my bouquet) and it will be good. So that's all happy, and marks a few more things off my list. Must consult my older brother on what I should make available for the gluten-allergic who have been invited (like himself, his wife and her parents). Most of the food we have planned isn't gluten free, and since M's dad is marrying us I think having food available that he can eat would be a Good Thing. :)

The original point of a wedding shower was to shower the bride-to-be with love- and I most certainly felt that on Saturday. I was stunned and pleased, and embarrassed that it was all for me. I'm not sure how I can thank everyone enough or really let them know what it meant to me.
