Lookie Ma! A journal entry!
Mar. 31st, 2005 10:18 pm(EDIT- I actually wrote this last night, but was having a devil of a time getting it to post- so I gave up, saved it to Word and went to bed. So now I give you- last night’s post!)
Hello, still around, just not around here. So, what's the haps, you ask? (or some variant I'm sure...)
So Monday was big time clean day. This included the oven (ick, hate cleaning oven) and the window sills. This being our first year here (the Beau moved into the apt in September and I moved in in November) we didn't know all the ins and outs of the place. Apparently the window sills hold moisture just lovely and makes for a perfect home for mold. So on Monday I took it upon myself to bleach the mold out. Worked pretty well. Danger Boy!, sweet boy that he is, kept trying to help. I tried to explain to him that bleach wasn't really good for his fur. ;)
Yesterday was mostly a 'I need a job!' day and involved much searching on the internet. It was also the Beau's birthday, and my grandpa's is today (oh, and my older bothers' had birthdays on Monday and Saturday is my sis's birthday (oh and if she's reading this- HAPPY early BIRTHDAY Sis!)- they hate me, I swear..) and I needed to get them cards. So I ran around town a bit and made dinner. Luckily I made enough for two (being all nice and stuff and planning extra for the Beau to take to lunch the next day) because while I was on the phone with the future step-daughter (giving her the Beau's work number) he came home. Apparently he decided to take the night off work- in order to give himself more time to study for his chemistry test, and in honor of his birthday. So we were able to spend his birthday together, which was nice. For his birthday he received (from me) Return of the King- extended version, and John Stewart's book "America." The latter of which had to be physically removed from his hands when it was time to go to bed, it was 'Just one more page!' for some time. ;)
Oh, and that afternoon I got a call about a job for today. So did that today. While there I got a call about a job for the rest of April. Pay is good, and it's actually 40 hours a week. Which is actually a bit of a bummer- I have been enjoying this whole 'part time' thing. Then I slap myself for whining about it. ;) But it's true, I just got used to the 9 am start and I like it. It's going to be hard adjusting to getting up in order to be at work at 8 am. Plus, since the Beau only h as to be up and out by 8 one day a week- getting up will be that much harder.
So, tomorrow I start this new gig in downtown Lansing. The strange bit- the part of the job that makes me the most nervous is the driving in downtown Lansing part. Actual aspects of the job? Eh, whatever, I know I’ll be able to do it. The driving in an unfamiliar area, during the busiest part of the day? Eep!
So- on to today- first day on the job. Got there okay, much thanks to the Beau (who was going the same direction for class so I was able to follow him almost all the way there). So my main fear was alleviated. But once again I find myself in an office where interior communication is iffy and no one really seems to know what’s going on. We shall see what develops.
On to the better news! I got home this afternoon to two messages on the answering machine- both from places I have applied with and both of whom wanted to set up interviews! One I was able to call tonight (she left her cell phone number) and so I set up an appointment for next week. The other I have to call back tomorrow. Yay!!! Is very good news. The one I set up for next week is one I really would like to get. :)
