Well, it's official

As is the nature of temporary gigs, I got word today that my last day here will be June 3rd. Makes me a bit nervous, I'm hoping one of these jobs comes through with an offer by then.

It's also making the current supervisor grumpy- she's going to be getting a brand new clerk with absolutely no training. She's already behind due to a family emergency in March and then her clerk leaving and me taking over. So the bossman came in and said that I was out June 3 (well, he was much nicer about it than that) and the new person starts June 6th. I admit, I do rather feel bad for the supervisor. She's a nice person, if prone to panic, and this is really stressing her out.

Ending a job always makes me a bit twitchy, that not knowing where the next paycheck is going to come from thing. Just trying to stay positive.

However, that said, I stayed up way too late last night. Being short on sleep always makes being positive a bit more of a challenge. So I'm just going for rather numb right now, or just 'eh, who cares?' It's easier. ;)

On the plus side I did work out last night, had a lovely salad for dinner. Tonight's plan sees me heading to the Humane Society for some quality kitty-care time with the unhomed. I haven't been there for a couple months so I'm about to review all the info they gave me in my training sessions. Will be good. Maybe there will be kittens and puppies to tend to as well. :)

If they're getting someone new to replace you, why didn't they just let you stay or offer you the job?

Cause I'm a temp and to 'buy' me from the temp company would cost quite a bit of money. :( (If I figured correctly if they offered my $20,000 they would have to give the temp company $4,000 for me).

Sure but isn't that the point of temp agencies?
To find quality people and so sort of give you a 'trial' period to see if they like you?

Yeah, usually- but this particular place can't really afford me at that rate.

Could you reapply next week, under your own auspices as it were, and bypass the temp agency? It might not work for right now, but if the next temp doesn't work out, at least they'll be able to call you.

I hope you find something quickly. In the meantime, enjoy the warm fuzzy bodies around your household. :)

The next person won't be a temp- she's a full time hire. And the temp company has a 6 month rule (you can't hire one of their temps until it's been six months since they left you). The last company I was with took my phone number and said they'd call with any openings. So we'll see.

I am staying optimistic and will yes, definitely enjoy the warm fuzzy bodies. :) AND the Beau won't be working his hell schedule- so I might actually get some time with him. Amazing.

Bleh!! *hugs* Until I lucked into this place, I temped for 5 years. I hear ya...

Yes, there are times it does get better. The more I'm here the more I really wouldn't want to have this job full time. Luckily enough I just got asked to interview Friday morning for a position with another company. :)
