I saw that on CNN at the bookstore. Really made my day because the Republican Party was going to put a really theocratic looney up against in the primary. That mean the choice was going to be the loon that won the primary and some Philadelphia sleaze on the Dem ticket. Now that Specter has shifted, the choice is real clear.
I was wondering what you thought about this- given were you live and all. I'm rather surprised that the Republicans are still trying to eat their own given the current political climate. Can't say I'm that sad about it, just surprised. ;)
It's possible, but given that it's only about 18 months until he's up for re-election, I'd hope the more rational annoyed voters would just wait to express their dissatisfaction there.
At any rate, he commented that some 200K Pennsylvanians changed from R to D in the last election. Also, it's never clear how many voters are voting for the party and how many for the politician; the history of this country is rife with politicians who win in areas where their party is the weaker one (recent good example: Gov. Kathleen Sibelius, who won consistently in solidly-red Kansas).
