Otto the octopus wreaks havoc

She shouldn't be introduced to Otto. What I want to know is why his aquarium named him, but hers didn't name her?

They are invertebrates. They are also very intelligent. Intelligence leads to bordom when they are not challenged.

Not all zoos name their animals. I think this may be so that the keepers continue to look at them as animals and not pets.

Woot, I was right!

I can see wanting to keep the pet/animal separation. I can also see zoos naming them not so much for the keepers- but for visitors. To make them more than junst 'an octopus' it would be 'Otto' to the kids.
