I was wondering if there was going to be any fall out from the mis-quoted, mis-repeated oath taking. I'm glad they erred on the side of caution. :)

How are you today?

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
At least it should hush up any of the 'is he really president?' stuff the Right may try to throw at him. Aside from that small group that still wonders if he's a citizen.

Today is not so good. Not angry/cranky like yesterday, but emotionally negative. I'm working on it. Last night was great (hubby home!) so I don't know what happened. Looking forward to tonight and not being at work!

My old friend Peter (a joker) used to say his marriage was illegal and he could get off on the technicality that his brides father never loaded the shotgun ;)

Excellent. *laughs* It's good to have loopholes like that.

[identity profile] jeditigger.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and the thing is, this isn't the first time that's happened.

People. I swear.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. According to new sources I've seen- there have been two other re-takes of the oath just because it was fumbled during the inauguration.

[identity profile] jeditigger.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
And who can blame them? I've had stage fright. Obama was very gracious about it.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that House?

It's not like either of them had ever done that before!

[identity profile] jenandbronze.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I was going to ask the same question if that was House or not, kinda small for my bad eyes to tell.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
My eyes are pretty good, and obviously I still couldn't tell either! However, the guy is also smiling, and House rarely does that. *laughs*

Why weren't there any cameras allowed? What are they hiding!? This is a conspiracy, I tell you, a conspiracy! No wonder SCOTUS wouldn't take up any of the Obama birth challenges! John Roberts is in on it!!! They're all puppets for the Kenyan government! We're all going to yoked by Mugabe, just watch now, just watch. Learn Swahili now before it's forced on you by the police state!

Edit: Corrected a typo. Because if there's something that doesn't belong in a raving tin foil hat conspiracy post, it's a typo.

Re Edit: damn skippy!

But as for the rest, I am also inclined to agree. And am afeared...

[identity profile] bernmarx.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
And ... I just saw another typo.

They're going to take my tin foil hat away. :(

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally... I bet they're heading to your house right now!!

[identity profile] kathrynrose.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad they did.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I am too, mostly just to shut the critics up (about that...).

[identity profile] nonabloch.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Someone posted this on Facebook this morning! Haha!! Like okay, great. I'm so glad he's official.

Sheesh. I do like how the judge hasn't commented on why he was so tongue tied.

[identity profile] bernmarx.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
The article suggests it's because Obama jumped the gun a little and threw him off pace. I also reckon it's partly because SCOTUS judges aren't quite as used to the direct media limelight as Senators, and this is the first time Roberts has executed this public an act. Plus, frankly, Roberts probably wasn't all that enthusiastic about swearing in a Democrat.

So, I say it was probably nerves.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm just glad that it'll give his detractors one less thing to get upset about.

[identity profile] farmishtphoenix.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
But now they have a NEW thing to get excited about:

There was no bible present for the second oath.

Seriously. They're now using THAT as evidence of his Muslimness. I'm not kidding.

[identity profile] laurellei.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Like having a bible there would have stopped them from ranting. :P

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2009-01-22 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
*sighs* Why am I not terribly surprised?
