Well, like that's any surprise given who his people are...

Anyway, hubby and I have taken to leaving him out of his crate at night- kind of as a test. So far he's been doing beautifully! No trouble at all. Though it was weird that first night when I got up to go to the bathroom and discovered I had a shadow. Followed me from the bedroom, into the bathroom, and back. *laughs*

Now the 'he's weird' part. The past two nights he hasn't slept in the bedroom, and last night when I got up (I only very rarely sleep the whole night without getting up) he wasn't around. Then I heard him getting up- from his crate.

Yup, he had chosen to sleep in his crate. My dog is weird.

Further proof: http://www.classy-canine.com/ This is the website of his groomer- he's the doggins on the far right (duh). Wet, in the bath, and smiling... Did I mention he doesn't like swimming, or sitting in wet grass? When *I* give him a bath his ears are back in the 'poor, pathetic me' posture... when Karina bathes him he's all smiles and happy silly dog. This is why we take him there. Plus she does his nails so I don't have to. ;)

Naw, I know a lot of people with dogs that sleep in their crates when the door's open. It's their doggie home and place of safety!

I miss having a doggie. :(

Well I've known that he does it off an on through the evening, I just didn't expect him to at night, I don't know why. *laughs* It IS his 'house' and he does get this kind of concerned look on his face when one of the cats stroll in to it.

I'm sorry. *hugs*

Oh, don't be! I had my wonderful Woofies for longer than I could have or should have, a few years longer than average life expectancy! And if John and I get together as expected, we'll get a dog. But for now, I can enjoy your boy vicariously.

I love that icon so much. :)

I remember reading stories about your boy. :)

That picture is actually from his Ingham County Animal Shelter profile. I snagged it because he does look really cute in it. Actually, it's the second picture they took, the first was really not flattering- his ears were back and he was looking up... just not really displaying him- plus there's the whole 'Black dog syndrome.' The only reason why he was there for almost a month before we adopted him.

Yeah - the cats will come home from the vet - hiss and spit at the carrier, then 10 minutes later be in it sleeping.

Now my cats- totally ignore the cat carriers. Well, Leo will sleep on top of one of them... or use it as a stepping stone to get somewhere else. But neither one will sleep in it. *grins* This makes more sense to me. ;)

*grins* He's cute, no? :) Though, like I said, he never looks like that when *I* bathe him! ;)

He's very cute :) I know what you mean though - my dog never looks that happy when I give him a bath either *grin* Apparently the groomers are bribing them to smile ;)

Definitely bribing them, definitely. *laughs*

LOL!

I guess the novelty of sleeping elsewhere wore off quick!

Apparently. *grins* He figured out we're just really boring when we're sleeping...

My foster dog is doing that too. She likes her crate (strange) and so far she wants to sleep in it!

Heh, she's a cutie too! I suppose it's much better that they love to sleep in their crate rather than viewing crate time as the ultimate punishment. I just can't imagine it's better than the couch! ;)
