Friday

Thank goodness! *laughs* I'm very much looking forward to a weekend of... *thinks* no plans... All right! There will be sleeping, and DH cuddling, and possibly crafty stuff. Oh, and must start actually working on the plans for the parents' 40th wedding anniversary. Yeah, my parents have managed almost 40 years together. That's longer than I've been alive!! *laughs* Okay, that amuses me... Probably not anyone else.

In other news... Night before last (I didn't say it was really RECENT news...) DH was in the process of putting the fur-kids to bed. For Kyle this means playing a game of keep-away with his Greenie. Finally Kyle is allowed to have it and races off to his crate! DH (or I, if I'm putting him to bed) run after him and shut the crate door. It's a game, as Kyle will go into his crate without the inducement of a treat. However, on this occasion there was a slight problem... Namely, one Sasha the Grey sitting right in front of the crate door. So when Kyle went racing to the crate- she was in the way.

He actually skidded to a stop, dropped his treat in front of her, and backed up! He laid down and just looked mournfully up at DH, who was laughing and told me what happened. DH had to move Sasha, as asking her to move resulted in no movement... Then re-offer the Greenie to Kyle, who was relieved to be able to get into his house. *laughs* I feel compelled to point out again- Kyle=45lbs, Sasha=12lbs. And yet she wins... That's Cat-itude for you.

On Wednesday night we had a milestone at chez Kosmos-Bear: Django the 3-4 lb kitten smacked Sophie the 85 lb German Sheperd hard enough to make her yelp.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that is impressive for one little kitten!

[identity profile] a-kosmos.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... he's decided that he's going to be a big fierce cat when he grows up. (Actually he probably thinks that he's already a big fierce cat!) Afterwards, he lounged on the ottoman like a lion: with his eyes closed and looking very pleased with himself.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, he IS a kitten, they do tend to think they're the fiercest things around.

*laughs* I can just picture that pose... too cute! ('course if he knew he was being regarded as Cuuuuuute! he would be terribly upset, 'cause he's FIERCE KITTY! ;) )

[identity profile] stormkitty.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes, but cats bring their own knives to the fight. ;) Midnight has learned to back away from the girls because while they haven't swiped at him in a while, he knows they can. He's finally able to actually see them now (when he first got here he'd walk over them, he just didn't notice them).

It could have been worse...he could have plowed through her.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
This is true, and Sasha's given him a good smack on more than one occasion...

I'm guessing Midnight's legs got thwapped a few times when he tried to step over them?

Also wondering... if Kyle is agile enough to jump over Sasha- and what she could do... I've seen him jump Leo, who doesn't particularly care.

[identity profile] stormkitty.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
They never actually made contact (mainly 'cause they know they'd be in trouble) but there was one time in the kitchen where a cat was sitting on the chair and he walked a bit too close and I heard a hiss and then Midnight came trotting back in to the living room with his ears back and his tail down. I'm guessing that's all he needed to be told where he shakes out in the hierarchy here. :)

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* Yeah, that's kind of how Kyle reacted the first time Sasha saw him... She was NOT happy about having a dog in HER house. He figured out avoiding her was the best thing to do. ;)

[identity profile] stormkitty.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the two girls were NOT amused about him showing up. We dog-sat John's dad's 2 small dogs for 2 weeks and that was an adventure. So when this monster showed up they were not thrilled. Now, they just sit and glare at him. Trina is a bit better around him and has actually laid down on his bed before. Trinka still wishes him dead and will drink out of his water dish to show him who's boss.

He's learning now to just stop and walk away from them. But, they don't understand that he doesn't have rearview mirrors and will back up on to them unless they move.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I'm trying to imagine a dog that DID have rearview mirrors added...

See, the last dogs that Sasha lived with were about 50lbs and 95 lbs... so Kyle was much smaller than they were. I guess she figured he was small enough to bully. And she's RIGHT!

Oh, and your comment reminded me of this:

Yep, that's pretty much what it's like. Although the girls do torment him by jumping over his gate to get back and forth from the family room to the front room after he's locked in for the night.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Mean kitties! *laughs* DH is pretty sure Sasha and Leo prance around in front of Kyle's crate when we're not home. In the manner of 'we're out heeere... you're in theeere..'

[identity profile] editgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It amuses me too because I've said to my parents, in a serious way, "wow, you've been married longer than I've been alive!" To which they replied something like well, you should hope so. lol

My 12 lb Lacey girl and my 11lb Sydney girl, when she was alive, both rule (or ruled) over my 22 lb Shakey boy. My poor boy, being run around by girls. :)

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2008-06-06 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I AM the youngest of four... so yeah, I would think they've been married longer than I've been alive (given the time period in which we're talking. Nowadays apparently it wouldn't be so odd. ;) )

*laughs* poor Shakey!

Sasha is your stereotypical grumpy old 'Get off my lawn!' kinda gal... When Kyle and Leo get too rambunctious playing tag- she layeth the smacketh down upon Kyle (Leo doesn't listen to her. ;) ).
