I would just like to say that when it comes to having a migraine- Zomig is a fantabulous thing.

Yesterday the temps went UP! snow began to melt, and there was rain. So of course there was head pain! It wasn't too bad for the most part- and then there was the trouble sleeping, and the pain got worse overnight. So this morning I took a Zomig...

Pain is mostly gone, but so is processing speed. There is a slight delay in the system... And do you mind if I just go ahead and take a nap now?

Wow... kinda fun, blood-reduced brain power does come up with some interesting thoughts.

In other news- Saturday was both cross stitch sale shopping, and Star Wars!! *grins* Fun game, I'm playing a grubby mechanic (think something like Kaylee from Firefly (minus her boy crazy stuff) and the chick mechanic from the new BSG). She happens to go by the nickname Sparks, and among other things is learning to be a Jedi. I keep telling people that the ability to use telekinesis while trying to repair a star ship is not to be underrated!

She's also building a droid army. Not quite on purpose, it's just turning out that way as she collects more and more droids. Some people count coup on their defeated opponents, she claims their droids, and reprograms them. Fun line for the day "Force Sensitive or not, he'll still die like one!" exclaimed before heading into direct battle with a cyborg on her ship, lightsaber pulled. First time she'd ever used a lightsaber in combat. Of course, the only reason she was actually in combat was because someone was ON HER SHIP! and trying to hurt it. This is bad. Truth told, she only got one good hit in, then took the brunt of his attack so someone else could kill him. She did salvage his mechanical bits though... Hey- you never know what could come in handy!

Sunday was the big day though... See several months ago I promised the Husband that once he got a job- we could get him a Mac. He's been wanting one for almost six years now. He almost bought one, and then didn't because his roomie talked him into a Vaio- reminding hubby that he wouldn't be able to participate in their LAN parties with the Mac. So hubby bought the Vaio. This was not a good decision. It didn't make it to two years old...

So Sunday we went to Best Buy because they now have a Mac Store. We wanted to look at a couple specific laptops, but there was a very, VERY non-computer literate couple taking up the salesperson's time. We were just going to look! So we waited and chatted with three other salespeople, and found out they were doing a '18 months 0% financing' deal. This is the same deal we used at Circuit City to buy Dylan. So we thought, played with all the Macs there, and then finally got to look at the MacBooks. They were pretty. Shiny. But, we left to ponder some more- and went to dinner. Talked over dinner. I was feeling puny at the store, but food, drink, and Tylenol helped. So we went BACK to Best Buy, got approved for their credit card (aka the financing) and bought this:
Our MacBook!

As of yet it does not have a name. I must remedy this, when I get around to loading all my iTunes and what not. So cool!! I'm really looking forward to playing with it. Last night all I really did was set up all the updates, and load iWork onto it. Must add OpenOffice.

So for right now we are a two laptop home! Wow! (well, two laptops that work, I have a third but the power input is broken) Not sure what we're going to do with the HP yet. Quite possibly sell it, or maybe give it to the step-daughter (they are computerless). Dunno yet.

So how are ya'll?

I vote for Linus. Linus is a very cool, underutilized name.

Ooh, I like it! Definitely a contender.

Congratulations on your new MacBook!

Welcome to the world of multiple computers. We are filled with them - 3 laptops, 4 desktops (all pc's) and a G4 Mac. I really like the Mac for graphics, but I am SO Mac illiterate. There are a lot of things that a Mac can do that I am clueless about. Perhaps someday I will sit down and learn it all. In the meantime, I am having fun playing around with Photoshop on the PC. :O)

PS. I'm glad you are feeling better. :O)

There's a photo program on the Mac that I'm so excited to try. *grins* Not having the big kahuna Photoshop like some people I know! ;) I don't know Macs well- but is shiny new toy to learn!

Is very good to be feeling better.

YAY for new toys!!! :P
I have never heard of "Zomig".... what exactly is it? I'm glad it helped. Was the the temperature change, or the actual rain that caused your migraine, and does that always happen?

Zomig is a prescription medication specifically used to treat migraine headaches. It's a vasoconstrictor- so it constricts the blood vessels. Helps control migraines. Is very Good. :)

Drastic weather changes mean the barometric pressure has changed a LOT and that's what prompts my migraines. Well, it's one of the prompts. ;)

Hmmm. Cuz, like, Jared gets horrible pains when the weather changes... but when it gets colder or is about to snow or especially rain. His knees shoot with pain, and sometimes his elbows and stuff. He thinks it has something to do with arthritis, since that runs rapid in his mom's side of the family.
Anyway, that sucks. But that's cool that there's a good migraine medicine out there that works. I've heard, and in experience have found, that not much works for those hellish pains in the head.

Jared's issue does sound more like arthritis- Mr. Boss has really bad arthritis and when the weather shifts we commiserate. *grins* I grump about my head and he limps around the office (bad ankle).

Zomig works really well for migraines- but can only be used like 3 times a week max- otherwise it spawns rebound headaches... Can't win for losing sometimes. ;)

Interesting. I wonder why weather changes affect that kind of thing so much?
I have tendonitis in my left leg, where it joins at the hip. And when it gets colder (but only after it's been good and warm/hot for a while) it tends to flare up. But I never thought much of it, just dealt with it.
How would that medicine spawn "rebound" headaches? I mean, I know what those are, but don't understand why they would be caused by taking it more than 3 times a week or whatever.

Basically rebound headaches are caused by the body missing the medication that made the initial headache go away. It's quite similar to addiction issues- the body gets accustomed to certain chemicals in the system- and if they're not present- there are problems. Zomig is powerful enough of a pain reliever- that taking it more than three times a week can get your body too used to it.

Barometric pressure is still pressure... I'm not sure if anyone totally understands why it does what it does to us.

I'll vouch for the problems with migraines, but I won't touch Zomig. Personal bias - I won't use anything that restricts my ability to think clearly - or anything that has "halucinogenic" possible side effects, either.

I suggest naming the new Mac - - - HAL! LOL!

Hey, what is the name of that Star Wars game? I WANT A COPY OF IT!

I can still think clearly while on Zomig, it just takes a little longer. For about an hour- and then the worst of the effects are gone. Of course, being in the throws of a migraine affects 'processor speed' too. ;) Hmm, hallucinations could be interesting, but Zomig has never caused them for me.

The new Mac has a name- not HAL, but a fun suggestion! :)

It's the Star Wars role-playing game, came out years ago, all 6 sided dice (I think the new one is based on the D20 system). Sparks is a personal creation. :) We also have an Ewok Shaman (Jedi in training), played so very well by my hubby. :)

Glad to hear that the Zomig works so well for you. :o)

Have you named your Mac yet?

Zomig is gooood. :)

And yes, *beams* we have named the new Mac Schroeder. See, I kept thinking of [livejournal.com profile] azbound's suggestion, but Linus reminds me of Torvald, but also of Peanuts, and Schroeder was the musical artsy Peanuts character... so yeah. :)
