Hah! I've been meaning to write about TV. Specifically the TV shows I've been watching lately (thanks to Netflix DVDs). These were the husband's picks... so his fault.
#1- Hex. A British show featuring a teenaged girl (I'm guessing 16-18) attending a live-in high school in Britain. While at the school she discovers she's a witch. But wait! It gets better, she's haunted by a lesbian ghost, finds out she's the descendant of people who used to own the manner house the school is now in, but also! She's the object of desire for a fallen angel named Azazeal. It's fun! :) I am struck though by the number of differences in 'what's acceptable' between British and American shows. #1- there were bare boobies in one of the first episodes and bare boy butts. Never would have happened in the US. #2- she has sex. Now for a soap or something sure, but even on Buffy sex didn't happen all that often between high school characters. Buffy and Angel waited how long to get it on? And they were in looooove. Cassie- the main character in Hex is a rather realistic young woman- her roomie is her best mate, and yet she will still sometimes say things that hurt her feelings because she didn't think first. #3- actually, I don't think I'll mention #3, wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone who actually wants to watch the show. I've only seen 6 episodes, but I'm really enjoying it- and looking forward to seeing more. Plus Azazeal is kind of hot...
#2- Robin Hood- the new adventures from just the last couple years, and yes, British. ( http://imdb.com/title/tt0787985/ ) Fun! It was advertised as having 'modern sensibilities' and it does. But I like it anyway. I about cried laughing when the Sheriff of Nottingham commented that they were 'Winning hearts and minds.' Episode or so later he was going on about the 'war on terror.' We've only seen a little bit, but so far so good. I do like the fact that Marian is (so far) one of the smartest characters on the show.
I think that's about all really... We're on a bit of a British kick at the moment.

I LIKE Hex, and don't really see it as all that campy. But definitely funny.
