Ever have one of those morning where you wake up mid-dream? If it's a good dream, it's annoying because Good Dream damnit! If it's a bad dream, and you can't go back to sleep because it's time to get up in the morning, it's still annoying because you can't get it out of your head!
So this morning, I'm getting into my car (except I'm a gay man... just go with me), when suddenly a rock gets thrown through my back window (at first it shattered the window and I got some "glass" shards stuck in me from the force, little while later in the dream this changed so that it was just a hole punched in the window... it was a dream, it made sense). There are these two young men (late teens) who were trying to get at me in the car. I'm aware that one is a neighborhood kid, and that they're going after me for being gay. All the doors are locked except the driver's door, so I'm trying to lock it when one of the kids grabs it. So with one hand I'm holding the door shut, fighting his pulling it open, and with the other I'm honking the horn trying to get the attention of my other neighbors. At some point I'm aware that I did get their attention, they just weren't going to help me.
Soon, one of the kids manages to break out the rest of the window in the back, and crawls into the car. We scuffle, somehow, without me leaving the driver's seat. Eventually I render him unconscious, I'm not sure how. And the other kid has left. I managed to get out of the car- and locked it again (it made sense in the dream) and got inside to call 911. I told them what happened, and gave them the kid's name (Nick Cavalleri.... ? o_0?). For some reason I went back outside- he was gone from the car, but I was pretty sure he'd just gone home. At this point I'm me again, and someone I knew had come to check on me (again dream, it made sense). And we waited for the police to show up.
Right before waking I remember sitting on the ground at the end of my driveway, rocking back and forth while looking up and down the street and knowing that I wasn't safe- even though I had this friend holding me and trying to reassure me. I just knew I wasn't safe in that neighborhood.
Lovely point to wake up... And hello brain? I know these things happen, I don't need to dream about them, and I have a very vivid imagination- as you know! Remember all those e-mails we get, and petitions we sign, not to mention the phone calls we get? Yeah, we're doing what we can , so knock it off!
On the plus side- there WAS that friend there, so even in all the bad, I wasn't completely alone. That's gotta count for something.
So that's been lingering with me this morning. Yay.
In other news... there really isn't any other news. Wait, to flip topics completely! Saturday (or was is Sunday?) saw BOTH Sasha and Leo sleeping on our bed *at the same time*!!!
Yes, this is noteworthy. See, Leo was sleeping on the bed, and I joined him for a minute while waiting for the bathroom to be free so I could shower. Then Sasha jumped up, glared at Leo - but didn't hiss!- then she climbed over my legs and curled up behind them. Thus I was surrounded by sleepy kitty vibes. There was no way I could resist them. So the three of us snoozed for while. When I finally got up to shower they stayed there! Even though they could see each other!
Of course the next day (which was Sunday, so it was Saturday when they snoozed in close proximity) Leo tormented Sasha like no other (there was hissing, growling, screaming, and running) so he had TWO times outs in his room... Yes, Leo gets time outs, reduces stress all around. :) When he comes out he's calmer and not retaliatory towards Sasha. That comes later...
Kyle, meanwhile, just hoped not to get caught in the crossfire. ;)

On the flip...I'd never confuse you with a gay man. No.
And your dream probably has a lot to do about how you feel about the subject of hate crime. Your empathetic nature just reached out and grabbed you.
But what do I know?

Oftentimes my dreams are like movies- sometimes I'm not even in them!! Which is kind of neat really, and fodder for many stories.
And you know quite a bit. *hugs* And thanks.
