Quick Note

To all my friends going through some rough times- I'm really sorry that I haven't been commenting more in your journals. There's so much that I want to say- but when it comes time, words are not coming to fingers. Just know that I am reading all of your posts- and I really do care about all of you- and I'm really glad that you're my friends. The mind is kind of wrapped up in itself right now, and I hate how selfish that sounds.

But along those lines- I'm contemplating stuff brought up by [livejournal.com profile] kathrynrose's goal setting instructions. Details of which will be forthcoming in a friends post in a day or two.

Along those lines, I just found out about a class sort of thing that I'd like to try, but at the same time I'm really afraid to try. It's something that I think I might just be good at... but if I am then there are these expectation things- and I just don't deal well with those.

Mrph.

What kind of class? Never be afraid to take a class. You always come out ahead. Let me know if there's any sage advice can offer. Is it library science related?

I think Ms. Rose's advice is generally pretty good. I think there are a lot of gaps to fill in and I have a seemingly off the wall suggestion. Pickup a good Systems Analysis Text book. They tend to have some good, relatively mechanical techniques for setting goals and achieving them. I think these can be useful on a personal level because they set up an emotional distance between you and your goals. So if you have an internal critic that tends to throw up road blocks, tools like a Work Decomposition Diagram will help you more objectively develop a plan of action. Not to mention, just getting things into a picture can help you see what you're doing.

Good for the Belly Dancing class, if anything it is a GREAT workout. Plus you can "study" in front of your husband and uhm... yeah... go from there.
