Got a migraine yesterday... (too many of my entries start that way. hmph) Took the 'special drugs' which have the result of slightly pushing the pain away- until the medication wears off and the migraine returns. Kind of like the meds have pressed the pause button on the pain, but then don't actually do anything to remove the reason behind it.
This morning I took the 'stuff that works!' and the pain is much better. Unfortunately I feel slightly hung over from the stuff I took last night. So it's like my brain is nicely wrapped in soft cotton. Aww... Except to get messages to and from, it has to pass through the cotton. Which takes awhile, and comes out a little garbled. Typing is entertaining. ;) My eyes voted, they don't want to be open, as trying to get messages through the cotton is just too much effort. Sadly, I am at work, and napping here is frowned upon.
In other news...
Yeah, don't really have any other news. Life goes as it goes. Spending some good quality time with the hubby. That's nice. Though we've been crabby on and off the past couple days (well, since Friday). I think he's being hormonal. ;) Even so, we've managed to reiterate that the fault is not with the other, and take steps not to act crabby at the other.
Oh, but here's something that's been making us both crabby- our landlords... Several months ago we got a notice stating that if we were caught not cleaning up after our dog's we would get a $50 fine. Given what requires 'getting caught' I would be surprised if anyone actually got fined. I saw a lot of people NOT cleaning up after their dogs- but there weren't apartment staff anywhere around. I'm not sure they even drive past the office to see what's going on in the rest of the complex.
Friday we got a notice stating that they'd hired a company to come and pick up all the dog feces around the complex. Thereafter, if dog feces was found around a building- every dog owner in that building would be fined $25 per month for the cleanup crew to come around. There are over 10 buildings in our complex, my 'building' is actually two different addresses with two front doors. For my address alone there are 5-7 apartments (out of 12) that have dogs. Our adjoining building has at least 6 apartments that have dogs. Shall we do the math? Charging each one of us for dog feces would get the apartment people $300, for our two buildings alone. Does it really cost that much to hire someone to come out?
Now, what REALLY irritates me about this is that DH and I are really good about picking up after Kyle. Hell, we BUY bags specifically designed to pick up dog poop! (we used regular grocery bags for awhile, but didn't always have enough, and we prefer not to get plastic all the time) Our neighbors on the other hand... some of them are the kind to just let their dogs go out on a retractable leash while they stand in the doorway. One of my neighbors just lets her two little dogs out off leash while she stands inside and watches from the window. Also, there are condos right across the street, and those people walk their dogs around our building, and don't always pick up after them. Further, there's a neighborhood up the street, and those people walk their dogs past our buildings on their way to Central Park. So now we're supposed to clean up after them too? Plus, what if the neighbors decide that $25 a month isn't too much of a hassle, especially since it will mean they don't have to pick up after their dogs?
DH is going to be talking to them soon. We're trying to figure out if this constitutes a renegotiation of our lease- mid-lease. Which is not right. Our neighbors, who have a cute little dog named Chewie, have stated their frustration with this plan (they, like us actually WALK their dog on a regular basis and pick up after him), and have said that it's not all that hard from them to just move. I just hope we can get this cleared up.
Also, as I got home yesterday I see a notice on the front door to the building that the lock has been fixed... So for the first time since I've lived there I've had to try my key to see if it works. Luckily mine does, DH's, not so much. So that's fun too... One of those times where you want to go to them and say "The housing market in this area is such that it's cheap to buy. Are you TRYING to get tenants to move out?"
Ah, the cotton feeling is fading. That's good. Maybe now I'll get some work done. ;) Overall, the irritation is minor when thinking about the larger scope. Still needs to be addressed, but isn't the most important thing to keep in mind.
