The past few days were really nice. Saturday we went to see the hubby's family- our annual August visit. See, hubby's step-bro lives in Hawaii and every year he takes most of the month of August off and comes to Michigan. Since his birthday and hubby's sister's birthday are two days apart, we get together to celebrate those and just in general visit.

The highlight of this trip was getting to see Baby B. :) She's 9 months old as of tomorrow and getting to be so big! She's not quite walking, but she's working on it. She's doing this weird crawl that involves pulling her right leg forward but instead of putting her knee down she puts her foot down. Baby B wasn't quite sure what to make of all the people and was somewhat hesitant to be held/picked up. However, I happened to be wearing a shiny around my neck that she just found fascinating. Luckily it is a fairly sturdy necklace and I wasn't afraid she would break it- and hey, it allowed me to cuddle her, so it's all good. ;)

I also was able to help my MIL with some computer issues she was having. Essentially, they got a new computer and the store they bought it from made a back up from her old hard drive onto a DVD and said they loaded everything from that to the new computer. Well, she had a ton of pictures that she couldn't find, or if she could find them she couldn't open them. Turns out the back up had them all- just in rather strange locations, and with some of them, the program needed hadn't been loaded. I was able to load the program and tidy up some of the weird locations, and let her know that they're all there, just in strange spots.

Overall, it was a lot of fun. I just wish the step-daughter and family could have stayed longer (they were only there for a couple hours). Hopefully we'll be able to see them again soon.

Sunday was a bit slow at first, then at 3 was Kyle's class. Funny thing about that- we were the only ones there other than the instructor. So we actually had a private lesson- and got to play hide and seek throughout the store. When the instructor had Kyle and hubby and I hid- he was FAST to find us. When one of us had him and the other hid- he wasn't so eager to look... Makes sense really. If we're both gone he's nervous, but if one is still there- he's much calmer. Oh, and his Gentle Leader broke (luckily not while on a walk). The plastic clasp thing broke- we intended to exchange it, but instead got an Easy Walk. The Easy Walk is more of a harness, and hubby seems to prefer that over the Gentle Leader, which went over his nose. The harness seems to work okay, the clasp is in the front on a martingale, so if he pulls he ends up turning himself around and slightly tightens the harness around his front. We'll see how well it goes.

Along those lines though- we have new dogs in the building. There's a couple with two white long haired dogs. One looks a lot like a Bichon, the other- I have no idea. A Bichon Basset maybe? It's weird. And cranky. And doesn't like Kyle. The other one seems willing to like Kyle, but as soon as the older weird looking one snaps at him- Kyle's ready to take him on. Oi. And they bark, a lot. They live on the first floor (we're on the third) and sometimes we can hear them... Oh well. The Basenji mix, Bailey, seems to really like us and Kyle. He thinks she's pretty neat, though he's not sure what to do with her. She's little and skinny, and bounces around him, but she's not so small that he thinks she might be lunch (like the Chihuahua that lives with Bailey. ;) ).

Meanwhile the cats still apparently think that when we leave with Kyle maybe THIS time we won't bring him back... ;) They always seem to be so disappointed when he comes back... Though Sasha thinks the top of his crate is for her to sleep on, and Leo likes to play 'bat at the dog' from the top of the crate while Kyle runs in and out of it.

In not fun land- have huge sinus headache. Ran out of decongestant last night- this was not a good thing. First thing this morning hubby ran out to get me some. My hero. ;) Especially considering that he really didn't have to be up at all. So the jaw and ear area aches. I'm wondering if I have some sort of deep sinus infection- which would require a trip to my doctor. And since I haven't gotten around to getting a new one- that means the doctor whose staff I don't much like. Nothing like calling in with a question and not getting a response for 4-5 days... Makes me cranky. It's about time for the annual- yay- so it's been on my mind and I'm thinking I may go back, and let her know my concerns about call backs and so on. Perhaps get a referral to an allergist or ENT. We'll see.

OH! and my hunny loves me. :) He bought me a new laundry basket. Yes, a laundry basket, and no I'm not being sarcastic (remember, this is the woman who was overjoyed to get a filing cabinet, and who is lusting after a Dyson Animal- it's PURPLE! ;) ). Our laundry basket really was on it's last legs, the plastic was ripped in a couple places and it was getting annoying to carry. We needed a new one. I've been saying this for months, and yet I would always forget when we were actually IN a store. So when he went to L&L today to get stuff for lunch (yeah, we were at the grocery store last night, spent over $100 and he still had to go to the store today for lunch stuff... We need help) he found a basket on sale, it's sturdier than our old one and BLUE! Leo approves. Hubby brought it home, set it on the floor, and in popped Leo- ready to go flying around the room. :) He likes to fly. It's somewhat disconcerting to walk into a room, carrying an empty laundry basket only to suddenly have 11 lbs of cat jumping into it. At which point you must fly him around the room. It's a rule.

So- note to self, must make more dental appointments (have cavities, boo, have cavities that previous dumbass dentist missed, bigger BOO) and doctor's appointment. Mrs. Boss is going to love me. Especially as I have Thursday and Friday off this week. Just cuz. Hubby and I aren't doing anything, just wanted the time off.

So, that's my neck of the woods. How you doin'?
