The Weekend...
Jul. 24th, 2006 02:45 pmWas four days actually, I took Thursday and Friday off of work. :) Apparently I get this stuff called 'vacation time' that means I get paid even if I don't go to work. This is new, and fun!
So Wednesday was up a bit late, I stayed up to spend some time with the hubby after he got out of work. The plan was to head off to Art Fair- in Ann Arbor- fairly early in the day. Well, there was some sleeping in so 'early' wasn't so much. This was okay though as there was a storm that passed through Ann Arbor- ending right before 10 am we were told, so when we got there are closer to noonish it was much better. :)
We wandered around for quite some time, and there was some oohing and aahing. Then there was the watching little girls dancing- which was quite a lot of fun. Then there was the meeting up with
sarbah77 and the procuring of elephant ears. I expected hubby to share in said partaking, but he only ate a little tiny bit. And we walked, and walked. Hubby started to get a burned pate (I TOLD him to bring a hat!) so we had to buy him a new Tigers cap. Which was probably his eeevil intent as he's been wanting one for awhile. I got a pretty necklace with an amethyst on a marcacite (sp?) locket/thing (it's from the designers vintage collection and similar items had bits of cotton/fabric dipped in perfume and then placed in the locked/cage). It's very pretty. Although I do find it funny that the two main items we got weren't actually from any of the Art Fair vendors... We did get Baby B this really cute little tie-dyed dress. :)
Friday he had to work, so we just chilled and then I just goofed off doing a whole lot of nothing. Which is nice. :) Saturday was back to Ann Arbor for gaming, this time we brought Kyle, did not bring friend DD. (I knew I forgot something! ;) ) Kyle met Loki and Max, and while Max had to lay the smackdown on Kyle a couple of times- all went quite well. See, for those not in the know, Max is just about exactly twice Kyle's size. And it was his house. Kyle responded to the chastisement quite well. On another note- he did accidentally teach Magnus how to climb trees. He is so very enthusiastic about saying HI!!! that it often gets misinterpreted as 'I want to EAT YOU!!!' We're working on it. The pups wore themselves out, and too soon it was time to head home so hubby could go to work.
Sunday was obedience school, and Kyle did quite well. He's learning 'leave it' and 'say hello' in terms of dealing with other dogs- which will be a BIG help for us when walking him. Although I STILL think it's funny that the new neighbor's chihuahua is terrified of Kyle. He's so little and Kyle just looks huge from his point of view. It probably didn't help that his person was holding him and moving him towards Kyle (so they could smell nose to nose like dogs do) in a way that almost looked like she was trying to feed the chihuahua to Kyle.
Now I'm back at work- and while it appears to have been calm while I was gone- I was here for maybe an hour and it suddenly looked like my desk exploded. So I've been a tidge busy. Which is actually nice for a change.
In other news- hubby and I had a much needed talk on the way home on Saturday, about some things that weren't terribly major- but had a high potential of becoming so if they weren't dealt with. Unrelated, I got a letter from the library- I didn't get the job. Oh, and the dog's crate, that's in the dining area? Apparently it was placed there solely so that her Highness Sasha could lounge there.
