Staff Meeting fun!
Dec. 2nd, 2005 11:02 amThis morning was a staff meeting here are Ye Olde Workplace. Now usually the idea of a staff meeting produces many yawns. However, the meetings here aren't so bad- in large part due to the quips the Boss, Mrs. Boss and one of the engineers toss around.
Anyway, today's meeting was... highly entertaining. First the bore- the insurance guy came in to go over all of our benefit information... blah blah blah. They are excellent benefits- it's just that no matter how hard someone tries I just don't find that stuff terribly interesting. In annoying news, because I started work on July 11 I don't have the six months time in to qualify to join the 401(k) plan on Jan 1, I have to wait until July 1. Bah.
After the insurance guy left we had one of the engineers (who is a very snazzy dresser and always looks good) and Mrs. Boss give presentations on dressing properly and hygiene (respectively). I had to take notes on the subject AND am now typing some of the key points into the minutes.
An hour. That's how long the presentations on dressing professionally and hygiene took. On the plus side- we all got 'gifts' of electric toothbrushes, whitening Listerine, floss and Listerine strips. Mrs. Boss is quite concerned about teeth. Granted we do have some 'babies' as Mrs. Boss calls them- young men for whom this is their first professional job. As such they tend to be a bit clueless as to dress. It was just funny. I just wish they had mentioned laying off the cologne...
I just never thought I would sit through such a staff meeting...
In other news, I actually spent 25 minutes on my Ellipse both last night and the night before. Go me! And morning cuddles again induced sleep, the alarm only went off once. So I woke up at 7:30... oi. But I was out the door and on my way by 7:45. This is telling me that I really shouldn't wait up for the hubby to get home before going to bed- even if I have napped. Though I couldn't have managed to get out the door so quickly this morning were it not for the hubby's help. And the fact that since we had a staff meeting this morning I knew there would be doughnuts and fruit- so I didn't have to make time for breakfast...
