Curiousity

So in another person's journal the topic of birthdays near holidays came up. Which got me thinking and wondering if other people find that there are grouped birthdays or special events? Are they concentrated on around certain holidays? By example I give you the 'calendar' for my family:

Jan- Birthdays- Me 11, dh's son-in-law 13 (I think)
Feb- Birthdays- Mom Feb 27, Grandma P
March- Birthdays- Brothers 28, DH 29, Grandpa D 30
April- Birthdays- Sis 2
May- Anniversaries- Sis and Bro-in-law 30, Sis-in-Law K and hubby J
June- Birthdays- mom-in-law 9, step-daughter M 20, sis-in-law M 24, sis-in-law B 25, Anniversaries- Bro and B- 14, Bro and M- 19
July- Anniversary- Mom and Dad
August- Birthdays- sis-in-law K 6, Dad Aug 30
September-
October- Anniversary- DH and Me
November- Birthdays- Bro-in-law 3, Baby B 8
December- Christmas!!

So mid-June is a bit hectic, as is late March/early April, but other than that- we're fairly well spread out- how about the rest of you?

my birthday is two weeks after christmas, on jan. 8th. i ALWAYS got hosed on the presents as a little kid. :(

THENNNNN, when i got older, my family commenced with the elvis jokes. (i share his birthday)...i've gotten commemorative stamps, cards, pictures, etc...and i'm not EVEN a big elvis fan.

Heh, I hear ya on the gift thing. ;) My parents tried- and some years we would just celebrate after the date. One year it was forgotten- but I was good enough to remind my mom, who hurridly made a cake before leaving for work that morning.

But c'mon, you share Elvis' birthday- you MUST be a fan. ;) I don't know how it started, but now every time we see an Elvis something or other the hubby has to do his Evlis impersonation (badly done on purpose) and say 'Look Honey, it's Elvis.' Men are weird. ;)

oh yeah...they take it too far sometimes. it's probably why im *not* a fan.
for example...*ALL* in the world i wanted at 16 was a car. so on my b'day, they psyched me out with a big velvet elvis with a giant bow and took pics of me all pissed off before actually bringing the car out of hiding.

awful.

:)

and this is weird...my girlfriend (lj user= angst_fairy>) dated a guy [livejournal.com profile] goodspeedforlife) whos birthday was aug. 16, elvis' DEATH date.
freakish coincidence, right there.

Hmm... either you have a psychic connection to the Big E... OR! IT's a warning against over consumption of illegals and ego. ;)

hahah...maybe so on both counts! LOL!

Oh my... I think I may have committed fratricide. At one point I went to Daytona Beach in Florida with my uncle and his kids (meeting up with more family there)- when I got back I found that my older siblings had 'Barney'ed my room- posters, balloons, streamers- the whole nine yards. I actually screamed in horror.

Tell me about it! I'm a Jan 4 baby.

AND MY PARENTS OCCASIONALLY FORGET!

WTF OVER. THEY WERE THERE WHEN I WAS BORN! IT'S RIGHT AFTER CHRISTMAS!

My mom's is a week before mine, too.

No, I don't get Elvis stuff. I'm lucky if I get a card, though I do get a call. Last year I didn't get my presents till mid-February and I'm still waiting for my ONLY sibling to get me my gift (I told him he gets his after I get mine).

But. Yeah. I know your pain.

I'm sure that your parents, like mine, remember we were born... it's just that the actual day surprises them. ;) Kind of the 'Yes, Anne's birthday is the 11th... What? Today's the 11th? NO!!!' kind of thing. :)

I'm really bad with birthdays- though I endeavor to be better. At my cousin's wedding in September I gave my sister three cards- 1- Christmas, 2- Birthday, and 3- Anniversary. I got a laugh. :)

If anything, I OVER compensate for Furuba9 - she gets MORE birthday presents than she probably would just because I never wanted her to feel shortchanged!

Okay... now I'm jealous...

Well, my mom gets really nasty about her birthday and how no one remembers and gives her stuff and the like (and this comment NEVER turned up in my inbox). PLUS she hates getting her bday gifts in xmas paper.

Right. So. She never gets me gifts on time and when I get them, they're in xmas paper.

:P

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
But, but... you're not her. So obviously it's different. ;)

[identity profile] sarbah77.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
That might well be her thinking. ;)

My mom and two of her 3 sisters were born within two weeks of Xmas. Dec 18, 22, and jan ... 4? something like that. Once I got old enough, I made sure that mom always gets separate presents for b-day and xmas :)

In jr high/High school I had 6 friends who had birthdays within two weeks of each other (born same year, first two weeks of october)... must've been a cold, cold new year's :)

Oh my....
