Curiousity

So in another person's journal the topic of birthdays near holidays came up. Which got me thinking and wondering if other people find that there are grouped birthdays or special events? Are they concentrated on around certain holidays? By example I give you the 'calendar' for my family:

Jan- Birthdays- Me 11, dh's son-in-law 13 (I think)
Feb- Birthdays- Mom Feb 27, Grandma P
March- Birthdays- Brothers 28, DH 29, Grandpa D 30
April- Birthdays- Sis 2
May- Anniversaries- Sis and Bro-in-law 30, Sis-in-Law K and hubby J
June- Birthdays- mom-in-law 9, step-daughter M 20, sis-in-law M 24, sis-in-law B 25, Anniversaries- Bro and B- 14, Bro and M- 19
July- Anniversary- Mom and Dad
August- Birthdays- sis-in-law K 6, Dad Aug 30
September-
October- Anniversary- DH and Me
November- Birthdays- Bro-in-law 3, Baby B 8
December- Christmas!!

So mid-June is a bit hectic, as is late March/early April, but other than that- we're fairly well spread out- how about the rest of you?

my birthday is two weeks after christmas, on jan. 8th. i ALWAYS got hosed on the presents as a little kid. :(

THENNNNN, when i got older, my family commenced with the elvis jokes. (i share his birthday)...i've gotten commemorative stamps, cards, pictures, etc...and i'm not EVEN a big elvis fan.

December/January are my killer months.
Dec. 1-SIL
Dec. 2-Mom
Dec. 5-Nephew
Dec. 25-Christmas
Dec. 28-Dad
Jan. 11-Niece

Way too much present buying and money spent all at once! :) Brother is in April, Matt's in June...all three of his nephews are in June. Don't know Matt's brother or his wife. His mom is in Aug. Let's see...9 months before December is...March or February. Maybe there were lots of blizzards those times??? :)

Ours seem to fall on or near holidays. I was born on Memorial Day (May 30). Dad was born on Halloween. Mom and brother sometimes have Easter or Good Friday (April 13 & 3). Sister is the only odd duck, Jan. 11.

Funny anecdote...My dad is the oldest of 5 kids. 4 of the 5 were born roughly 9 months from my grandparents' anniversary. :)

Heh, I hear ya on the gift thing. ;) My parents tried- and some years we would just celebrate after the date. One year it was forgotten- but I was good enough to remind my mom, who hurridly made a cake before leaving for work that morning.

But c'mon, you share Elvis' birthday- you MUST be a fan. ;) I don't know how it started, but now every time we see an Elvis something or other the hubby has to do his Evlis impersonation (badly done on purpose) and say 'Look Honey, it's Elvis.' Men are weird. ;)

Zoe has a birthday on Dec. 1st.
Same month as Christmas so her stuff gets thrown together.

[identity profile] sarbah77.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Tell me about it! I'm a Jan 4 baby.

AND MY PARENTS OCCASIONALLY FORGET!

WTF OVER. THEY WERE THERE WHEN I WAS BORN! IT'S RIGHT AFTER CHRISTMAS!

My mom's is a week before mine, too.

No, I don't get Elvis stuff. I'm lucky if I get a card, though I do get a call. Last year I didn't get my presents till mid-February and I'm still waiting for my ONLY sibling to get me my gift (I told him he gets his after I get mine).

But. Yeah. I know your pain.

[identity profile] sarbah77.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's not so bad! ;)

Dec 25: Christmas
Dec 26: In-law anniversary
Dec 27: aunt & uncle anniversary
Dec 28: mom birthday
Dec 31: mom-in-law birthday
Jan 4: my birthday

August 7: aunt birthday
August 11: dear friend birthday
August 12: my anniversary
August 13: doesn't matter, had a friend who's bday was then
August 23: bro AND uncle b-day
August 27: husband b-day
August 30: friend b-day
Sept 19: talk like a pi... i mean, dad birthday.

[identity profile] kokopelleigh.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
oh yeah...they take it too far sometimes. it's probably why im *not* a fan.
for example...*ALL* in the world i wanted at 16 was a car. so on my b'day, they psyched me out with a big velvet elvis with a giant bow and took pics of me all pissed off before actually bringing the car out of hiding.

awful.

:)

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
Eek, December really is a killer month for you! I buy the blizzards theory. ;)

[identity profile] kokopelleigh.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
and this is weird...my girlfriend (lj user= angst_fairy>) dated a guy [livejournal.com profile] goodspeedforlife) whos birthday was aug. 16, elvis' DEATH date.
freakish coincidence, right there.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm... I wonder if that's a coincidence... *ponders*

Hey another Jan 11! Your sis is therefore cool. ;) And yes, an odd duck, I am after all.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
Seems a shame to me- there's a couple weeks difference there.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my... I think I may have committed fratricide. At one point I went to Daytona Beach in Florida with my uncle and his kids (meeting up with more family there)- when I got back I found that my older siblings had 'Barney'ed my room- posters, balloons, streamers- the whole nine yards. I actually screamed in horror.

[identity profile] jadecat.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure that your parents, like mine, remember we were born... it's just that the actual day surprises them. ;) Kind of the 'Yes, Anne's birthday is the 11th... What? Today's the 11th? NO!!!' kind of thing. :)

I'm really bad with birthdays- though I endeavor to be better. At my cousin's wedding in September I gave my sister three cards- 1- Christmas, 2- Birthday, and 3- Anniversary. I got a laugh. :)

If anything, I OVER compensate for Furuba9 - she gets MORE birthday presents than she probably would just because I never wanted her to feel shortchanged!

[identity profile] firesign10.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! I am August 13 too. (and first marriage's anniversary was the 20th).

[identity profile] firesign10.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
My time was July -

July 3 - mother
July 5 - niece
July 9 - ex-DH (Furuba9's dad, so still in effect)
July 16 - sister
July 24 - dad

In august was my birthday and a week later was my anniversary (first marriage).

Everything else is more spread out -
Jan 3 - Furuba9
Feb. 10 - Mr Bear
March 1 - brother (and this was supposed to be Mr Bear's birthday but he was emphatically invited to appear early since he was already 8 lbs. by then)
May 11 - [livejournal.com profile] blogula (DH)
Sept. 8 - anniversary with Blogula

Mine is December.

4) Sister and SIL's birthday.
6) MIL's birthday.
17) dear friend's birthday.
21) dear friend's birthday.
25) Christmas
26) My own anniversary
27) FIL's birthday.

On top of being hectic, it's hell on the gift-giving budget, to the extent that my sister has started asking for her birthday to be celebrated in March.

[identity profile] esmerel.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
My mom and two of her 3 sisters were born within two weeks of Xmas. Dec 18, 22, and jan ... 4? something like that. Once I got old enough, I made sure that mom always gets separate presents for b-day and xmas :)

In jr high/High school I had 6 friends who had birthdays within two weeks of each other (born same year, first two weeks of october)... must've been a cold, cold new year's :)

[identity profile] velvetpage.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
Mid-April has my daughter, my husband, and my brother within six days of each other, sometimes clustered around Easter. My MIL's birthday is on Boxing Day. Myself and my two sisters were all born in the summer - 32 days between me, first, and my middle sister, last. That's about it for clustering in my family.

The most common birthday months are March, April, and May, because people get pregnant while on summer vacation. :) (I have some personal experience with that phenomenon. . . :)

[identity profile] sarbah77.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
Well, my mom gets really nasty about her birthday and how no one remembers and gives her stuff and the like (and this comment NEVER turned up in my inbox). PLUS she hates getting her bday gifts in xmas paper.

Right. So. She never gets me gifts on time and when I get them, they're in xmas paper.

:P

[identity profile] sarbah77.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 11:00 am (UTC)(link)
Well, unlike other bday in question, I am still speaking to you... ;)

[identity profile] sarbah77.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. My mom tries the same thing (celebrate birthdays in March).

[identity profile] firesign10.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
*whew*

lol!

BTW I'm loving the festive icons you have!!
