The Weeked in Review
May. 12th, 2008 10:54 amFriday night was kind of a bust, head hurt (even though I was told the prednisone would give me two weeks pain free...), but I managed to do the books, note the bills that were coming out of the account for this week (I do our household accounting every week, keeps it simple for us), get to the bookstore and bought a couple books (For those curious: Magic Burns- by
ilona_andrews, because I had finished the first one, Kitty Goes to Washington- Carrie Vaughn, and for the third 'second in a series book' I got New Moon by Stephanie Meyer. ). Much of the rest of the evening was spent reading. Funny how reading more spurs my writing urge...
Saturday started with the DH coming home from work and snuggling with me for a little while. I finally dragged my butt out of bed laaaate in the morning (so late morning it was almost afternoon. ;) ). Kyle was very, very pleased I finally got around to walking him. ;) Then I actually checked my e-mail, which was a good thing, and eventually woke up the DH so we could rush around (in true us fashion) in order to meet up with
zen_kitty and her DH. (this would be why it was a good thing I checked my e-mail!!)
The four of us went to see "Iron Man" and were NOT disappointed. That movie is so much fun! And I so love Robert Downey Jr. The initial scenes, showing his personality were just great. The change over to becoming Iron Man worked for me too. All in all, a solid superhero begins movie. It was just funny- because DH and I planned to see Iron Man on Saturday, and it was just cool to get an invite to join friends to see it, definitely enhanced the experience. :)
After the movie it was off to dinner, and then back to
zen_kitty's place for a card game- Mysticards. We hadn't played, and they hadn't played much, and each of the cards has writing on it... yet it's played kinda like Hearts, meets Euchre, meets Magic. Sorta. *laughs* It makes more sense when you play it. We had a lot of fun. Even if I was being a mean, cuthroat player! *laughs* The only downer was that my head was bothering me most of the day, and towards the end I was just plain getting tired- and I think I sounded it. DH said he had a wonderful time, and that it was a lot of fun. I couldn't agree more. :)
Sunday, day to chill, mostly. Slept too late again- I'm thinking the Neurontin isn't going to be good unless I halve the dosage (which they told me I could do). Sleeping almost 12 hours, and wanting more, really, really isn't normal for me anymore. As a teenager... maybe. ;)
Sunday was also kind of a rainy, dreary day, so we didn't really want to go out. Called me mum to wish her a Happy Mother's day! And talked to her for an hour and a half! :) She got to spend Saturday with her only grandbaby, and then they spent the night as well, (my brother and grandbaby) so she got to take him to church with her too. Apparently he was VERY well behaved, so she got to really show him off. *laughs* She was very happy about this.
Weird thing- they've done some work on the house, resided it, took out the old front door and put a window in it's place, took out the path leading to the front door and yeah... This is going to be weird, it's just not going to look like the place where I grew up. Oh, for the record- we never, EVER used the 'front door.' The way the house is set up the 'front' door is actually on the side of the house- facing the neighbor's, and on the opposite side of the house from the driveway. The driveway leads up to a carport- that has a door, and that's the one we've always used. The 'front' door just wasn't ever convenient. But I wasn't consulted in the building of the house. ;)
Later on we used the coupon DH's mum sent us, and went to Olive Garden for dinner. There was a LONG wait, but we had expected that. Grabbed a seat near the bar, eventually, and got drinks, which helped pass the time. I have discovered 'French' or cream sodas, and am especially fond of cherry cream sodas. It was a nice meal, I was asked if I was a mom, and my first thought was to say no- but that's not true! I AM a stepmom, even if I had nothing to do with the raising of M. She's a part of my life now- not only because she's DH's daughter, but I've grown to really care for her, her hubby, and my grandkids.* So I proudly told our waiter that yes, I was a stepmom. :)
The night ended with DH and I going over Ireland stuff again. For me this meant reading the book 'Living and Working in Ireland' (or at least starting it), and he did web searches for both jobs and apartments. We found a really neat apartment that's above the shops. It looked really neat, and they take pets! Slowly moving forward on that one. I also did some research (!?!) for the urban fantasy novel I'm currently working on. Amazing how that helps...
This brings us to today, and I'm not fully sure what today holds... I'll let you know later. ;)
* for those that are new, my DH is 17 years older than I am, my stepdaugther M is 5 years younger than I am, is married, and has a 2.5 year old and an almost 7 month old baby. M actually got married a year before DH and I did, and Baby B was born a month to the day after DH and my wedding. :)
