Justice League Unlimited
Dec. 19th, 2006 11:01 am(yes I know the icon is Marvel and not DC, but it's one of the few comic book icons I have so bear with me)
Hubby has always liked comic books, and more recently has started watching the cartoon version of Justice League that was on TV recently. For those new in the crowd, husband and I do not have cable or local tv of any sort, we do have Netflix, however. With the hubby watching, this has led to me watching, and quite enjoying this incarnation of the characters.
The shows may be somewhat aimed at kids- being a cartoon and all- and yet, a lot of the elements are adult. Like when The Question (who I adore) and Huntress break into a place to get computer files. She's beating up security while he's calmly downloading files onto what seems to be a removable hard drive. She then snags it- to make him take her on a REAL date- and drops it down the front of her drawers for safe keeping. Yeah... Or when Shayera and Vixen are discussing Green Lantern and laughing because he folds his socks- implying they've both been in his room.
So the shows themselves are much fun- seeing the varying characters interact, especially after Justice League added the 'Unlimited' to the name and added a gazillion other characters. So last night while Green Lantern and Shayera were in the episode- so were Vixen and Vigilante, who both got more screen time than Green Lantern.
The other thing that's so cool- is the amazing people they get to do the voices. Michael Rosembaum- from Smallville most notably, is the voice for Flash, Clancy Brown (!!) provides Lex Luthors voice, Oded Fehr (drools) voices Doctor Fate, and it just goes on (Ron Perlman, Robert Englund, Michael Dorn, Michael R. Weiss, Eric Roberts, Jeremy Piven, Pam Grier, John Ryhs-Davies). We likes it!
Oh, and Joss Whedon, who is writing for X-Men, has had several of his cast members provide voices. Juliet Landau (Tala), Gina Torres (Vixen), Adam Baldwin (couple different characters), Morena Baccarin (Black Canary), Nathon Fillion (Vigilante), Amy Acker (Huntress). It was funny to have one episode with both Gina Torres and Nathan Fillion providing voices.
Overall, we very much like Justice League. And if you like superheros, you should check it out.
