It's dead, Anne... the laptop seems to be no more. First off it was acting all stupid- there was something wrong with the explorer.exe, so it wouldn't fully load. Being brilliant, I am, and stubborn, I managed to work a away around that. Was then working on getting antivirus stuff working, to see if that was the problem. This was frustrating, but seemed to be working.

No, what killed the beast was the stupid power connection. The edge of the laptop was broken when I got it- and the little 'dongle' (as I have been calling it, though I have no idea if that's the right word) that you plug the power cord into was kind of loose. At first I thought it wasn't even going to work. It had two little metal tabs that plugged into it, and then a little notch that had to be connected to the board. All was well. Then in an attempt to unplug it- the entire dongle came off. I should mention that one of the metal tabs was loose and had come unattached before. That tab was fine- it was the other one that came off.

Now initially I thought it was okay, it ran well one night- after I got everything plugged back in (tab A in slot B). Last night- not so much. In the middle of a scan it died. Apparently it wasn't drawing power as I had though. I never realized how useful those little icons on the bottom right of the screen are... Of course, there is a little light on the front that indicates whether or not it's getting power- but did I check there? No! Cause I'm brilliant like that.

So yeah... While the machine was scanning- hubby was working on his poster for his last clinical day of the term (and bitching because while instructor A said it would be one thing, his clinical instructor decided that was too easy and added several layers of complications into it. grumph), I thought I would spend some quality time with my Ellipse. It was about 18 minutes in to the work out when the computer went dead. OH yeah... that was fun. Decided not to deal with it and went back to the Ellipse... started to worry that hubby was going to futz with computer and delay poster... Went back out to see, he was working on the poster- which is good. I ended up having a mini-meltdown and cried on the hubby's shoulder for a bit.

Then went back to working out- and actually felt better emotionally when I was done. 'Course it helps that I now have my 'happy song' on iPod. :) There will also be 'looking at puppies' done tomorrow. (and shopping for a new computer, or see if the power issue on the laptop can be fixed.)
