An update!
May. 2nd, 2006 09:15 amAn honest to goodness, no meme, update! Starting with this weekend- which involved hubby's work being stupid again... This time the usual suspect had to attend a funeral (sadly, there are some doubts as to the veracity of this...) and thus schedules were shifted for Saturday- though initially hubby's schedule wasn't affected. Then same guy says 'oh no, there's this memorial that I have to go to, they just planned' on Saturday night. This ended up meaning that hubby worked Saturday 8pm to Sunday 8 am. (instead of 12am-12pm) On the one hand this meant Saturday night was less fun- hubby gone. But that he got home early Sunday- so saner sleep schedule. I will be so happy when this term is over and he no longer needs to work Sundays.
That said- apparently the usual suspect was making noises about liking this new schedule and how maybe they could keep it, how it was nice for him to be able to spend Sunday with his almost 2-year old daughter... (okay folks, keep in mind that this guy ONLY works weekends usually, and this is his only job. The rest of the time IS with his daughter.) Hubby was a lot nicer than I think he should have been, as he explained the the usual suspect that given this current schedule he really doesn't have a day off- what with his classes, and that as it is he rarely gets to spend any time with his wife and he'd talk to be about it, but not having a single day off and all... At which point the guy backed off, which is good. Now, depending on the class schedule this fall- hubby may well need this guy to be willing to alter schedules again-hence being so nice. What still gets me is that it seems like everyone is allowed to take vacation and time off- but the minute hubby wants to- it's a huge hassle. Mmph. I'll just be glad when he's able to work elsewhere.
And speaking of glad! For the past two weeks I have been fabulous about keeping track of what I've eaten= and have worked out at least three days a week (at least 30 minutes on the Ellipse with stretching/weight training time added to that). To reward myself (and since my portable CD player was dying) I actually spent money on myself and bought a 2 GB iPod Nano. I got the white one- and it's so teeny. I absolutely love it. And have been having oodles of fun setting it up and adding songs. The first playlist created was my workout mix- of course, as I must listen to music while working out. And since I've put so much money into the iPod I obviously must keep working out- that was the deal I made with myself. So, I now own my very own iPod Nano, my first digital music player. I'm quite excited.
In addition- as a result of my diet monitoring (which still allowed a chocolate chip cookie here and there) AND regular workouts- I lost 4 lbs in two weeks. I'm inordinately proud of myself. It's loss- which is good, at a slow pace- which is recommended, and wasn't too much effort. So as I continue to make diet changes (improvements) and continue to work out- things should be good.
The weight loss in and of itself isn't the main goal- being healthier and stronger is. If nothing else the added water intake is proving to be a plus. The other day I was just musing that I was having a good skin day- it felt really soft- the hydration appears to be working. I can also feel msucles starting to get stronger- and my time on the Ellipse is getting better. It's not easier in the sense that it's too easy- just that I no longer feel like I'm going to die when I get off the thing. Now I can go at a higher pace for longer before I feel the need to check the time (it's a number things, once I check to see how long I've been going I start trying to get the numbers to work out to some pattern my mind has come up with- which near the end of a work out can be good, but can be not-so-positive in the middle-beginning).
In all I'm quite pleased with my efforts- and the little rewards (iPod being a HUGE reward) seem to be working. This week's successful goal completion will involve the purchase of additional garb to wear while working out.
Other than that- I haven't been stitching much, what with running all over town over the weekend and the computer eating up my time. Initially we weren't sure if the iPod software would run on my computer, and so for fun/curiosity we were pricing computers. This meant going to at least two stores and patiently allowing the hubby to dawdle over all the Macs and PCs available. Which was kind of fun. He's terribly cute when he's little boy excited. ;) Turns out the computer I have, with Windows 2000 is just fine (I thought it had 98 on it for some reason... but no). I've also been spending waaay too much time playing Bookworm and Zuma over at popcap.com. Making words! It's fun- go try. It's free even. ;)
So, that's pretty much it. Today should be a good day- worked out yesterday, so today is a rest day. Will have both lunch AND dinner with the hubby- which is a great thing.
I hope you all are doing well. :)
