The Weekend

Every Monday is supposed to have a weekend update, right?

So Friday I did indeed work on Laundry. Was rather fun- except that I forgot that of the two dryers only one is reliable. So it took longer to do the 4 loads of laundry than I thought it would. Had headphones on and was also zipping around the house just picking things up. Didn't really 'clean' per se, just put things where they are supposed to go. Didn't stitch- ended up playing Dynasty Warriors IV: Empires. Had a mini-meltdown, which resulted in a good discussion with the hubby and a Plan. Which so far is going well.

Saturday we ended up going to see King Kong- which I absolutely loved. Oh and how I bawled. But I came prepared with many tissues, so all was well. Sure, we all know how it ends- but I was just impressed, again with Andy Serkis and Peter Jackson. Was nice to see Andy in a second role- one wherein he's NOT an Ape or a Golem... This was quite clearly a tribute film- the DH told me that from somewhere he read/heard that the original King Kong is what made Peter Jackson want to go into making movies. After watching this new movie- I can believe that. The minute attention to detail was just beautiful. Naomi Watts, an actress I can't really decide about, looked wonderful- the methods used to film her (soft haloing from the back, just a generally soft lens)- were stunning. Jack Black actually impressed me. Generally I find him vaguely annoying, but I really liked his role in King Kong, I was pleasantly surprised. So- the film was beautifully shot, the story was well done in terms of script, and I loved it.

Other movies recently seen that I've really really enjoyed- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Orlando. The latter is a movie that I'd heard brief bits about for the last several years and then I finally decided to go ahead and get it through Netflix. I am so glad that I did. It's another movie that's just beautifully shot and Tilda Swinton did an absolutely beautiful job playing both male and female Orlando.

Anywho, had a short Saturday night as the DH had to go in to work at midnight, his shift ending at noon. So when he headed in to take a nap before leaving I decided I might as well just go to sleep too- and then get up early Sunday morning. This is part of The Plan- which involves eating better and trying to live healthier as to well- be healthier and avoid headaches. Part of that is attempting to follow the recommendation that one should get up at close to the same time every day. So I was up by 7:45am on Sunday morning.

So Sunday was good, though for some reason I could NOT fall asleep last night. Which makes no sense. I was up early, only had a short nap, was active- and when I went to bed I was calm. I didn't have much caffeine, and my mind wasn't racing. It was just weird. Then this morning I actually woke up because I was having a dream repeat. I had this weird dream about being lifted on a beam (an image from King Kong wherein construction workers are constructing a building). I don't like falling from great heights- which is not the same as a fear of heights. It's the falling that worries me. So when I had the dream again I just woke up to get it to quit and checked the clock. 7:16 am. It was supposed to go off at around 6:40. Oops.

With some help from the DH (toasting me a bagel, feeding furry beasts) I made it to work on time (which for me is about 5-10 minutes early). I didn't even get overly stressed about it. This is good. Then I get here and the Mr Boss is here- and he brought Krispy Kreme. *grumps-mutter-frown* I like Krispy Kreme- doughnuts are fantabulous! But I shouldn't eat them- they're so not good for me. But I broke and had one. But only one- and there's still over half a dozen left! But I'm being good.

Still want another doughnut though.
