An Update!

It seemed to me that I should post something other than a meme. I first typed 'a post of actual content' but as this is only going to be about what I've been up to and not an 'essay' that descriptor didn't seem to work.

Last Friday I was freed from work at around 4:30. Mr Boss just popped his head out of his office and told me to go home. Not wanting to argue I just said 'Okay' and hurried out. Our Christmas party was that night- so going home early gave me a chance to shower and get all spiffed up. Which turned out not to be necessary. Mrs Boss had said that the party would be more casual than in years past, but that still didn't really give me a frame of reference. The restaurant we went to was new to me, so that didn't either. In discussing it with one of our techs I just suggested that dressed down- but not in jeans- would be safe. So what happens but I get there and Mr and Mrs Boss are both wearing jeans. D'oh! But I still looked dern cute in a dark red sweater, black and white (in teeeny checks) skirt with my knee high black boots. Not the really, really cute ones- the other ones.

The dinner and conversation was a lot of fun. Mr and Mrs Boss are definitely the kind of couple that can, and does, tease each other. We got Christmas cards and bonuses- which I wasn't expecting, but were very nice to get! We stayed and chatted for quite awhile and then it was off to Kroger to pick up something for the cookie making party. We had just walked in when we ran into our 'annual' friend. Miguel was the hubby's roomie a few eons ago. Last year at this time we ran into him at Meijer and he invited us to his New Year's Eve party. This year it was Kroger, with the same invite offered. We chatted for a bit- which was neat, it was good to see him again. Maybe this year we will make it to his party- meet his wife and all that.

Then it was home to sleep for not long enough. :) I was very much looking forward to cookie decorating with [livejournal.com profile] sarbah77, [livejournal.com profile] devoosha and [livejournal.com profile] stand_n_deliver (I think that's her name). Got up and was all ready to go. Friend who rides down with us was late... we got the car all ready, called the friend when he was almost 1/2 an hour late. He was still sleeping, said his alarm didn't go off. This made me a bit cranky. Given that I've been late to every other get together, and I hate that, really really do, and this time it wasn't my fault! (or the fault of construction) So that sort of started things off badly.

Then got to [livejournal.com profile] sarbah77's house and all was fun. Enjoyable conversation, tasty cookies- and if the cookie didn't meet my artistic needs- I got to eat it! That was just fun, and I was a bit bummed that I had to leave so early. :(

However, initially Mage gaming was very much fun. Though the end got a bit drawn out with a side-story that really has nothing to do with the main storyline going on. As the hubby, and our friend D and I were discussing on the way back home- DK really enjoys gaming with D and as such the two of them have had this side story going on with their characters both in this version of the game and in the last. Now this bugs me (I hate being left out, but that's my issue) but doesn't bug the hubby as long as it IS a side-story and doesn't interfere with the main story. However, once again this last game it interfered big time, and took a couple hours- and all this with one of the players having gone upstairs because the whole thing was a scene his character would never be involved in.

Rode home and dissected the game, per usual. I'm really enjoying this particular character- although given her personality she's contemplating leaving the group. I have a feeling everything will work around and she'll stay. Though poor D was not having a good day with me- late getting there and then when we stopped at McDonald's on the way back he tipped his drink and managed to spill a bit onto the box I had in the back seat that stored my CDs and tapes. I admit to getting cranky about that- I think all the tapes have been saved- they of course got more of the soda on them than the more easily cleaned CDs did. And as luck would have it the two tapes the got the most soda were both mix tapes and thus not very easily replaced- if at all (I don't think I have the jacket for one, so I don't have a list of what songs that were on it). I don't know if they're completely out of commission or not yet. So the night didn't exactly end on a good note for me - and way too late as it was 4 am before the hubby and I got to sleep.

Sunday started very late for some reason... even so, we got our minimal Christmas shopping done- AND finally used a gift card that we got as a wedding present and purchased a small table to go at the end of the couch. It's a good height to put the phone on and has a lower shelf that is just wide enough to store my floss boxes on. Plus it has a small drawer for pens and things. Makes me very happy. We were able to get that, a picture frame for the hubby's folks and a stuffed moose for Baby B (I couldn't resist- it's a MOOSE!) and only spent $.65 (yes, that's typed right). Makes me most happy.

Work was work, last night I did a barrel of nothin' much. Today, close to when I needed to leave for lunch, I got a call from the hubby- a bit panicked. He doesn't do well when he feels he's been rushed for time. Today he was trying to make lunch AND do laundry. Something got onto the bottom of the oven, which he had pre-heated and then put potatos in for the baking, when he came back from putting clothes in the washer he found an apartment full of smoke with the smoke alarms going ballistic. So, lunch had to be changed. He was very upset about having 'ruined' our lunch (when really, it's just been delayed a day) and having the apartment reek. The smell will dilute in time (especially with the windows and glass door open) and I told him I would clean the oven tonight when I got home. We've both noticed that the bottom has been getting kind of thick with something, and today it didn't catch fire so much as smoke like crazy. So that's my task for tonight. That and working on Christmas cards... REALLY need to get those out if I want them to be anywhere near on time...

Wanna do nothing but watch movies and cross stitch though.

Huh?
