Ah, the weekend was quite the lovely. Saturday the Beau and I did some running around, got the guest book and pen for the wedding. Scarily enough most everything that can be done in advance is all done. All that's left are the details that have to be taken care of the day before and the day of the big to-do.
Oh! We got our first two wedding presents last week- one a rather strange looking artsy bowl from my aunt and uncle- it seems to be a candy dish sort of bowl, ceramic with an abstract kind of fish painted on it. Yeah... The other is an espresso machine!! :) That arrived Friday and that meant that on Saturday we had to head to World Market to get the right kind of coffee and Toriani syrup. So I also had to get a bar of British Cadbury milk chocolate (oh so VERY different than American Cadbury). Was the yum.
After World Market we toddled off to Celebration to catch the 7:00pm showing of Serenity. *happy sigh* I very much enjoyed it. I won't mention anything spoilerish. Just to say that I loved it. Wasn't quite what I was expecting- but very good. Joss Whedon is fantabulous.
Sunday was more lazy- since as I said, we have most stuff done. We tried out the espresso machine (well he did, I watched and attempted to make potato pancakes from a Bavarian style mix we got from World Market- yeah, that didn't go so well, more an issue with me than the mix) and it went well- though needed more coffee less milk (for the cappuccino). After lazing for a bit we headed to the mall to Marshall Fields- needed to get some make up for the Day. Looked around and the Clinique chicky was the nicest. So we talked to her, I got myself all beautified, and then spent more money than I planned. But it was good stuff! Ah well, it's manageable, I had a feeling it was going to be more expensive than I liked. I just wanted something special. And now I have it, so it's good. See, I don't usually EVER wear lipstick- I don't know how to pick out a shade. She found me a great shade that I really like- and will likely wear fairly often. (yes, I'm trying to rationalize my expenditure and make it okay)
Did some grocery shopping (whoo hoo, we're exctin'!) and noticed that once again while we only went for two things we ended up buying many more than that. Stuff we'll use, certainly, but hadn't intended to get. One of these days we'll learn- going grocery shopping together is dangerous. Either one of us alone will get the stuff we wanted, plus maybe one or two things, together we get the stuff we wanted plus about a dozen ectra things... (like the week before, except one of the things we got was a REALLY cute little outfit for the on-the-way-grandbaby. She should be able to wear it come winter)
After a dinner of meatloaf and mashed potatoes the day was closed with Babylon 5. I've now decided that Babylon 5 and Firefly are my two favorite space shows. Dialogue and continuing storyline (that later most notable in Bab5) do a lot for my viewing enjoyment. That said, I must get icons of both... my problem being that I see the icons here and then forget to go get them when I'm at home and can actually download stuff. Silly me. I really want to find an icon of Mal with the text "Everybody's makin' a fuss." (and now, thanks to my lovely friends, I know where to get some of these! Whee!)
Welp, gotta get to work, only have a 4 day work week.
