Life is... weird
Nov. 3rd, 2004 09:02 pmWell first off, here is my horoscope for the day:
As you work slowly and steadily towards your goals, realize that there are apt to be unexpected obstacles along the way, Anne. You can't possibly plan for everything that comes onto your path, so don't get discouraged today when some crazy variable comes popping out of nowhere. Your mental process may be thrown for a loop and you might find that your head has gone into a frenzy. There is a valuable lesson to be learned here: patience.
Which works well given the election... I was, well, quite upset with how everything went down. I'm very disappointed in 'my fellow Americans.' I'm working up to being philosophical about it after having spent 2 + hours on the phone with the beau going over it, crying, talking, more me crying.
I finally get around to mentioning how Dubya's re-election terrifies me because I'm about to be out of a job- and what if I can't find a new one? At this point he remembers that a woman called for me today (I'm giving the Haslett phone number out) to set up an interview. This woman is calling from a bank that a friend of my elder brother J's friend works for. I met her at his reception, got her card and applied a few weeks ago.
Now the oddness of this, to me, is the timing. Something goes horribly wrong (and I'm sorry, but I think Dubya's relection and the passing of Proposal 2 count as things going horribly wrong) and then something good happens. This happened before... the night that my grandmother was taken off life support (she'd had a terrible stroke) and died... right after getting that news I noticed that I had gotten a letter from U of Michigan saying that I was accepted for the next fall term. Hand in hand they always seem to go. Makes the terrible better and the better bitter sweet.
More later.
