And now the explanation- here at work we had the 'QA Olympics,' which involved all of us drawing the names of 7 USA Olympic athletes. Points were assigned for each medal they won, bronze got you 1 point, silver 2 and gold 3. Then there were prizes for 1st through 4th, 4th= movie passes, 3rd= lunch with a supervisor at Olive Garden (? Definitely didn't want that), 2nd- half day off- paid, 1st- full day off- paid. :) I was pretty much hoping that if I got one it was either 4th, 2nd or 1st. Up until Friday one of my co-workers and I were tied for 2nd- this was cool. Today they tallied up all the points.

I got GOLD!! Tee hee, in other words one woman and I tied for first- so we each got a 'gold' certificate entitling us to one full day off- paid, and a laurel crown.

Since I'm hoping to find a job in Lansing- and this will require interviewing- a full day off- PAID will come in very handy!! And I have Courtney Kupets and Carly Patterson (gymnasts), as well as Courtney Cox (track&field) to thank for it!

So, being a surious cat *headdesk* (I will learn!) I decide to go check the Olympic results to find out to whom I owe my gratitude. As stated before, my two gymnasts had the most to do with it, and my track person, Courtney Cox got me the other gold.

Here's the problem. I was listed as having 2 golds and 4 silvers to my credit. But, upon looking- I have 2 golds, 3 silver and 1 bronze. Well this changes the entire standing.

This would make 1 person a gold winner, put me as lone silver winner, the 1 person who had silver before would be bronze, 4th place instead of having 1 person would have 3, and 5th (yeah, I missed that one) would have 1 person instead of 2. And those 2 wouldn't have gotten a prize at all.

So, do I tell the people in charge that they miscounted? (The gymnasts did it. My Kupets took bronze and another American took silver- I think that's where they got confused, crediting Kupets with the silver) If I report it it'll upset lots of people, so I'm thinking I should just keep my mouth shut.

My conscience on the other hand is tapping it's mental fingers. Not thumping me on the head (like it did when I was at a gas station on a Friday afternoon and happened to find $40 in the ATM- could I keep it? Oh no... *thump* went the conscience and I turned in the money. *sigh*) just tapping it's fingers. I'm thinking I'll just go tell it to thump off and leave me alone.

It would be so nice if I could just enjoy having my 1 day off paid (since I don't get paid vacation or sick time) without feeling guilty about it! Argh!
