Dream a little Dream
Aug. 25th, 2004 09:22 am"So where were you the last time he killed you?"
A direct quote from a dream I had night before last.
It was a really cool dream. So nifty that when I woke up from it I kept repeating the details in order to remember them, drift back to sleep only to dream that I'm talking to
mightyafrodite and DK and explaining the dream to them.
There's this park behind my parents' house, and that's where we start. There are 4 men and 1 woman. The woman is the girlfriend of one of the men, and she who uttered the line above. I was a guy in this dream. An immortal assassin who could, at times, be invisible, to be precise. So as this assassin I'm listening to this group plot to kill me, which I found entertaining since this wasn't the first time this group had tried. He/I was an assassin because it paid well and I was good at it, there was no emotional connection- in part I think because this guy had been around for at least 1,000 years.
The woman wasn't with them the first time- hence her question. But I'm ahead of myself. So they're fanning out around this tree, and I'm running around them like they're moving in slow motion- and I'm invisible. The fact that they want to kill me is neither surprising nor upsetting. In fact, there's a distant amusement about it. So I'm behind this one guy when I hear the question asked of the person the furthest away.
She asks the question he thinks and points to a section of the park, and they head over that way. In the revision of the dream that I'm telling
user and DK I explain that the assassin killed the one person he/I was standing behind, but the others didn't notice.
So they go to the area and boyfriend guy grabs a handle lifting the 'lid' to the entrance of the hideout. Apparently this is where 'I' killed him before (though I knew he wasn't immortal) and he remembered seeing me either entering or exiting from this spot. It was like a huge garbage bin cover- so lightweight and easily moved, though covered with leaves as 'camouflage.'
Now we're (cause I'm ghosting behind them) in this large cavern- wading through about three feet of water. Well, they are, I'm on a ledge up above where they can't see me. The woman flashes her flashlight around (dunno where it came from- but this is a dream and everything makes sense in a dream) and spots something on the ceiling, roughly 50 ft above their heads, that draws her attention.
I don't have to look because I, as the dweller of this place, know what's up there. Imagine, if you will, a 50 yard, slightly slanted 'dome' roof that is covered almost entirely by a hand painted map of the world. A map that took me a couple hundred years to paint (I even had a quick image flash of myself lying on a suspended board painting it), and of course required a few revisions as things changed. I was rather pleased with the awe on their faces- no one had ever seen my map before. That and there was a faint level of regret that I was going to have to destroy it. Obviously, now that they knew that I lived there I would have to destroy the place. So from my rock ledge, where I watched, I accessed this number pad (which appeared from nowhere) and typed in the destruction code.
My brain at this point couldn't exactly decide how this place was going to go down. Would the ceiling just crack and fall on them or would it separate into sections and slide into the ground or what? Never did figure it out, I got distracted. Apparently assassin me realized that chickie-poo was preggers. Well obviously I couldn't kill her now- she had a kid on the way.
At some point here I woke up- the last thought being that she was the only one who survived. So I go back to sleep and dream that I tell Mighty and DK. Wake up again, mind still buzzing about this because the mind of the assassin guy was fascinating.
Okay, dreaming again- except this time it's about the woman. She lived and is now working at a theme park- Disney I think. And they have a meeting putting them on high alert because rumor has it that I'm in the area. This is rather amusing. I spent a lot of time being amused by these silly human creatures. So I follow her back to her post, then it's more like I'm watching. The assassin's invisibility rules have changed- now if he's following someone he's invisible as long as he stays in step with them. If they're in step with each other, feet hitting the ground at exactly the same time, then he's invisible. If he steps off beat and you hear two sets of footsteps- then he's visible.
So he's following her and she has to go through this security turnstile (like I have at work, there are two metal stands, the right one with a sensor you flash your badge at, between the two metal bits are two plastic/plexiglas 'doors' that slide apart and into to the metal so you can pass between them- they're only open long enough for one person to pass through). She goes through the second turnstile and realizes that they're taking too long to close and stops to turn around. I know the guy is behind her, but she doesn't know- just gets freaked and keeps going.
Now is more overview as the dream is ending and I'm starting to wake up again (and sadly when I woke up this time I actually had to get up for the day). I know that the assassin, having spared the woman's life because of the kid sees the kid as basically his own. So he stops by from time to time, enters her home (when she's not there) and leaves like $300 for her. Usually in some place weird, like her sock drawer. Yanno, cause she doesn't have a lot of money and he wants to make sure his 'child' is taken care of.
What occurred to me when I woke up was- how scary that would be. To know that someone has been in your house, going through your things, and then leaving you money. As the Beau put it, when I told him, almost like someone paying you for the privilege of being a voyeur of your life. Too freaky. But made for a great fun dream and makes me wonder if I can't make a story out of it. (this would be one of the reasons that I wrote this up- so that I don't forget it.)
Fun! Wish I had dreams like that more often.
