To have a job or to not have a job... that is the question

Okay, so I posted recently about the fact that the temps in this office are pretty much dropping like flies. The Angel of Death comes around every so often and another one goes.

This has me on edge, I was out of work for ten months last year and I REALLY don't want to go through that again. Besides the fact that I really rather like working here. The people are great fun to work with, and the stuff I'm doing actually keeps me fairly interested. I'm sick and wrong, I realize, but I think it's great fun when I catch something that someone else missed.

So, I've recently moved and yesterday finally got around to e-mailing my rep. at the temp company my new address. She replies to let me know it's taken care of and asks how things are going. I let her know that things are going quite well. Though to be frank I was worried about the layoffs that have been going on and wondered if the company would be able to find me another assignment if I should get laid off. Her reply is as follows:

'HI! I do not anticipate lay offs in your dept. We certainly will do our best to find you something if something does happen. Glad you like it there! :)
Stay warm!'

So... maybe I'll get to stay here a bit longer. While not naive enough to think that she's being completely honest, or that if there was something in the wind she would tell me... I rather think that if it were imminent she would have answered differently. Sometime down the road a layoff might happen- but given how she replied, I don't think it's going to be soon for me. Yay!!
