Hmm, I guess I just wasn't looking at it that way. I saw it more as a woman who was unable to set any sort of limits or boundaries.
As such she lost a potential measure of actual happiness because she let someone else's needs totally run her life. To me that reads as unhealthy, and that she didn't actually positively benefit- like everyone else in the movie did. That and I guess I was also surprised that someone as ill as her brother was had free run to use a phone whenever he wanted.
