Chances are people you don't even know are being introduced to your journal every day, either randomly or through someone else. In addition to recent entries, people can get to know you better by what you posted in the past. With that in mind post links to your entries exactly six months ago, nine months ago, and a year ago. If there was no entry on that day, link the closest date.
Six Months Ago
Nine Months Ago
One Year Ago
(that's not terribly exciting)
That 'one year ago' was lame- so here's another:
One Year Ago Yesterday (That's much better- there's a theme... ;) )

Date: 2005-08-18 12:31 pm (UTC)As for Leo- we actually don't know how old he is precisely. When we got him they said he was a year old, but I'm pretty sure that was just an estimate.

Date: 2005-08-18 12:42 pm (UTC)Early (pre-puberty) neutering delays the closure of the growth plates, leading to longer bones and larger overall size. There is also evidence to support that animals neutered really early are behaviorally closer to sub-adults due to reduced development of their sexual organs. While the arguments that neutering may make a male dog more mellow, loving, etc, is a plus for many, it's not for us -- we want him to be the dog he's born to be! There are some other things as well, but nothing concrete.
Early neutering isn't bad. In general, I do support it, and very much so. The effects of doing so are not necessarily bad for the dog; we'd just rather have Blitz develop fully. The biggest risk is that some dogs take violent exception to intact males -- we've not run into any but we have to be careful when meeting new dogs.
Tobi was neutered just before 4 months and he's perfectly fine, although I do regret it a bit now.

Date: 2005-08-18 12:53 pm (UTC)My former housemates have a purebred GSD they were hoping to breed so he's entact. And yes, other male dogs have taken violent exception to him. I don't know how many times he's gotten attacked- and he's one of the mellowest dogs I know. He doesn't want to fight at all - but other dogs apparently think they have something to prove. What was actually kind of funny was watching a full grown pug try to go for Max's throat. The pug's mouth was just too small to get through Max's ruff!
My main concern with spaying/neutering is over population. I knew you weren't one of those 'oh, they should mate once for the experience before they get spayed/neutered' morons. Those are the ones that annoy me. You're waiting to improve the puppy- not make more. ;)

Date: 2005-08-18 12:59 pm (UTC)We did talk about what to do if Blitz accidentally got a girl pregnant. *gasp* We'd pay for her care and keep all the puppies if the owner insisted on letting the pregnancy run its course. Yes, all of them. Keep! Every one! Even if there were 10! Yikes :)

I knew you were good people!
